The happy hour cocktails were a nice touch, and the rotti was really good. Gayan took care of us well, friendly and quick. Solid spot for a casual bite in Ella.

Been coming here for a while now. The veggie rice and curry is still my go-to, consistent every single time. Staff actually remember you, which is rare. Cocktails are strong and cheap, dangerous combo. Place gets a bit loud on weekends but that's on me for going then. Solid spot if you're in the area.

Service was the highlight for me. Got sick during our stay and the staff sorted everything without me even asking. That kind of help is hard to find. Room was just okay but honestly the service made up for it.

Came here with a couple of friends last week and honestly the rice and curry plate was so good. Not fancy at all, just proper home-style Sri Lankan food. We sat outside and it was pretty chill, no one rushing us. Prices are fair too, especially for the portion you get. Only thing is it got a bit noisy when more people showed up, but that’s kinda expected. Would go back for sure 😊

Stopped by for a quick lunch. The string hoppers and curry were decent, pretty good actually. Cinnamon tea was a nice touch. Namal looked after us well, no complaints there. Place sits right by the road so it gets a bit noisy with traffic. But for the price, it was fine.

During our two-night stay in the charming town of Ella, Cafe Chill quickly became our top choice for a special dinner date. This lively and inviting spot truly lived up to its reputationThe food was nothing short of exceptional – every dish bursting with flavour and crafted with care. Whether you’re after local Sri Lankan cuisine or a more international option, the menu offers a great variety to suit all tastes. What made the experience even more memorable was the impeccable service. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely committed to ensuring we had a fantastic evening. Their friendly approach added a lovely personal touch to the meal. The atmosphere at Cafe Chill is another highlight. With its vibrant yet relaxed vibe, it’s the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring. If you’re in Ella, I couldn’t recommend Cafe Chill more highly for a delicious meal and wonderful service. It’s a dining experience you won’t want to miss!

Did the cooking class here. Nine curries in two hours, pretty intense but worth it. Thushanthi knew her stuff, patient with us the whole time. Price was fair for what you get. Probably the best thing we did in the area.

Stopped in Ella town for a quick coffee and ended up trying the Death by Chocolate cake. Really rich, super indulgent. Prices are a bit much for what it is, but the place was clean and the staff were nice. Good enough if you need a sugar hit while walking around.

Stopped by for dinner after a long day in Ella. Pasta was surprisingly decent, proper portions too. Price felt fair for what you get. Staff were on it, Pradeep especially. Place fills up fast though, so don't expect to sit down instantly if you come late. Solid enough spot.

Tried this spot for lunch while exploring the market area. Got the kottu and it came out super fast, really tasty. Live music in the evening looked fun but it was a bit loud for my liking.

The kottu here is solid. Had the chicken one and the fish version too—portion was huge, easily enough for two. Watching them make it is fun, that rhythmic clanging pulled us in from the street. Maybe a bit oily for my taste, but I'd go back for the beef next time.

Banana curry and kottu were spot on. Fresh juice was good too. Service quick even with the crowd. Solid local spot in Ella.

Tucked away on a quieter road in Ella, this place is perfect for hanging out with friends. The homemade rice and curry isn't on the menu, so make sure to ask for it—so hearty and tasty. Owners are super friendly too 😊

Stopped here after Little Adam's Peak. Black tea was really good, and the place felt clean and calm. Interior looked nice too. Just wish they had more fresh fruit options.

The chicken cheese kottu was really good. Cheese melted through nicely and the pieces were cut small enough to eat easily. Mango lassi tasted fresh, not too much sugar. Portion size surprised me for what they charge. I'd go back just for that kottu again.

Stopped by for a quick bite and grabbed a parippu wada from the pre-cooked section. Still crunchy, not oily at all. Place was busy with locals, which I always take as a good sign. Didn’t try the curries this time, but they looked decent. Maybe next time I’ll grab a plate.

Came back a second time before we left. Chicken katsu was solid, beef burrito pretty good too. Live music made it feel a bit special without being too much.

The baristas here remember my usual order now. Latte art's still on point and the coffee's been consistent every single visit.

The iced tea was really refreshing and the view made it worth stopping for a bit. Wi-Fi was fast too. Prices are a little steep, but you're paying for the setting, I guess.

Located just 5 minutes walk from Ella train station off the main street, the cafe is a hidden gem which is famous for its flavourful lamprais, a Sri Lankan dish in the form of a packet or lump of rice.

Stopped by for the Sri Lankan breakfast and it was decent. Portion size was just right, not too heavy. Coffee was pretty good too, grabbed one to go. The space itself is nice, kept coming back during my stay. Only thing is it gets a bit busy around mid-morning, but that's fine.
