The dinner was to introduce a friend to Syrian cuisine. Sham West was an excellent introduction. My friend loved the food. He also commented on the ambience - that it was almost like being in the Middle East. Everything was fresh and flavourful. Service was pleasant and efficient even if the restaurant was full. The only minus point was that the regular menu wasn't available. Only large Iftar set menus were available. We were unable to finish our meals. Fortunately the kind staff readily agreed to pack the rest for us.

Nice jazz in the background, coffee was solid. Menu looked decent too. Good spot to start the day if you're in the area.

Had the salmon bagel with dill sauce. Chewy, fresh, not those dense dry ones you get everywhere. Pretty close to a proper NY bagel honestly.

The truffle chicken sandwich was solid—rich, messy, exactly what I wanted. Paired it with a glass of their house red, which cut through the cream nicely. Mini pancakes on the side were a sweet little bonus. Place stays quiet even when the center gets packed. Good for a slow lunch if you're not in a rush.

The banana strawberry milkshake was thick, pretty good. Owner had us laughing while we waited. Decent pit stop if you're killing time before your Anne Frank House slot. Milkshake came out a bit slow, but fine.

Stopped by right before closing and they were still so chill about it. Got the satay and it was properly good, not dry at all. Prices are fair for what you get. Place was quiet, almost empty, which I actually liked. No rush to kick us out either.

Popped in for a coffee last week. The almond golden latte was decent, not too sweet. Place has a relaxed feel, good for sitting around. Staff were friendly enough. Coffee's solid, though nothing mind-blowing. I'd come back if I'm in the area and need a caffeine fix.

Ordered a big latte for €4.2 and picked from eight different bagel types. The vegan and gluten-free options are solid, and the staff kept things moving smoothly.

The smoothie bowl was good but honestly could've used way more granola and fruit for the price. The almond milk cappuccino was nice though.

Decent pastries and bread, nicely made. Open kitchen is a nice touch. A bit pricey, but portions are generous.

The food was delicious and reasonably priced, especially considering the generous portions. A great value for a night out!

Sushi here is actually decent for the neighborhood. Way better than the other spots nearby, and the price didn’t make me wince. Just wish they’d dim the lights a bit, felt a little harsh for a dinner vibe. But yeah, I’d come back for the salmon roll alone.

Nice vibe and comfy seats. Coffee and cake were solid, terrace is nice when the weather's good. Kids corner is a small plus.

Lovely spot right on the water. We sat outside with our dog and they were super welcoming. The terrace is great on a sunny day. Food was decent, nothing fancy but fresh.

The grilled octopus was the only thing I cared about. Cooked properly, soft, slight char. The lemon potatoes underneath soaked up the juice. Portion felt a bit small for what they charge. But that octopus alone is why I'd come back.

The fried chicken with glazed donut was solid—sweet and savory, worked way better than I expected. Coffee was good too, probably the best I had in Amsterdam. Portion was decent for the price.

Only one gluten-free option on the menu, which was a bit of a bummer. But the butternut curry we got was actually tasty. Wish they had a couple more choices though, would make it way easier for group dinners. 😕

The interior really got me — old wooden beams, mismatched chairs, that kind of cozy chaos. Food tasted like someone's grandma was in the kitchen. Staff were sweet, almost too sweet, but in a genuine way. Just a nice spot to sit and take your time.

Came here on a weekday afternoon and honestly loved the vibe. The interior is super cozy, like someone’s stylish living room. I grabbed a corner seat, read a bit, and just watched people pass by. Only downside: it got pretty noisy when more folks came in. Still, a nice little spot to chill with friends. ☕

Came for the apple pie, and yeah, it’s as good as people say. Had a cappuccino with it, that worked fine. Place is right by the church, which is nice, but inside it’s a bit tight. Staff were friendly enough. I’d go back if I’m in the area.

Isa's still the best barista around—always remembers my order and knows her beans. Filter options were solid again today. Chill spot, good tunes.

The shrimp cheung fun was solid—big pieces of shrimp, proper texture. Most of the other customers were Chinese, which says enough. Portion was decent for the price too.

Came here after visiting someone nearby. Got the bitterballen and a beer. The bitterballen were crispy outside, hot inside, proper mustard on the side. That hit the spot. Just wish they were open a bit later. Closed too early for my liking.
