The thali here is proper home-style cooking, generous portions for the price. Owner remembered me from last visit, that personal touch goes a long way. Just wish they'd open earlier on weekends.

Decent spot right in the middle of everything. Food was pretty good, nothing mind-blowing but solid. Rooms looked clean too. Fine for a quick stay.

The grilled butterfish and prawn curry rice were pretty good. Fish was fresh, curry had decent heat. Portions generous too. Server Aishin knew the menu well and was polite. Shady spot right on the beach kept it comfortable despite the heat. Fine meal, nothing to complain about really.

Stopped by for a few drinks with friends last week. The lighting and music set a decent vibe, nothing too loud. Prices are fair for the area. We ordered some food too—nothing memorable, but it fills the gap. I'd stick to the cocktails though; they were better than the food. Service was a bit slow when it got busy, but we weren't in a rush.

The happy hour cocktails were a nice touch, and the rotti was really good. Gayan took care of us well, friendly and quick. Solid spot for a casual bite in Ella.

Wood-fired pizza was solid, thin crust and lots of toppings. Half-and-half option is smart if you can't decide. Price felt a bit high for what you get though.

Stopped by for lunch and grabbed the rice and curry. The kotthu was decent too, though I’ve had better. Portions are big, which is always a plus. Hoppers were crispy, came with a good curry on the side. Place gets busy around noon, so expect a bit of a wait. Fair prices for what you get.

The rice and curry here reminded me of home cooking, the kind my mother makes back in Sri Lanka. Fresh ingredients, not too oily, and the spices were balanced just right. Portion was big enough for two meals honestly. Only thing is the place gets a bit crowded around noon, but the food makes up for it.

Stopped by for lunch with a bunch of friends and honestly the self-service setup made it super easy for us to grab what we wanted. Food was solid, plenty of options to fill everyone up. Only thing I'd say is a washroom on site would've been nice, but not a dealbreaker. Good spot for a casual hangout 👍

The chicken curry was solid, but honestly the ginger beer was the highlight for me. Wish they had a few more wine options, though. Service was quick and friendly.

The fish BBQ was solid and the happy hour cocktails hit the spot. But honestly, the beachfront setting is what makes this place—you can just sit there and watch the waves while you eat.

Stopped by for a quick dinner. Food was decent, but the seating killed it for me. Those booth chairs are stiff, tables sit too high—just awkward. Staff also pointed me to one section even though half the room was empty. Not a big deal, but annoying when you just want to sit down and eat. Fine if you're in a rush, not for lingering.

The fish curry here comes with a whole fish and it's so flavourful. Owner said she's been cooking for 45 years, you can totally tell. Right on the beach too. 🐟

Quick bite before a movie, five of us, bill stayed under 10k. Food was decent, service fast even on a Friday. Solid spot if you're in a hurry.

Came here with a couple of friends last week and honestly the rice and curry plate was so good. Not fancy at all, just proper home-style Sri Lankan food. We sat outside and it was pretty chill, no one rushing us. Prices are fair too, especially for the portion you get. Only thing is it got a bit noisy when more people showed up, but that’s kinda expected. Would go back for sure 😊

Stopped by for a quick lunch. The string hoppers and curry were decent, pretty good actually. Cinnamon tea was a nice touch. Namal looked after us well, no complaints there. Place sits right by the road so it gets a bit noisy with traffic. But for the price, it was fine.

During our two-night stay in the charming town of Ella, Cafe Chill quickly became our top choice for a special dinner date. This lively and inviting spot truly lived up to its reputationThe food was nothing short of exceptional – every dish bursting with flavour and crafted with care. Whether you’re after local Sri Lankan cuisine or a more international option, the menu offers a great variety to suit all tastes. What made the experience even more memorable was the impeccable service. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely committed to ensuring we had a fantastic evening. Their friendly approach added a lovely personal touch to the meal. The atmosphere at Cafe Chill is another highlight. With its vibrant yet relaxed vibe, it’s the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring. If you’re in Ella, I couldn’t recommend Cafe Chill more highly for a delicious meal and wonderful service. It’s a dining experience you won’t want to miss!

Big portions, easy to share. Egg curry with roti hit the spot for breakfast. Prawn curry had plenty of seafood in it. Solid spot for a quick bite.

We sat right on the sand, no shoes needed. The curry was good and spicy, just how I like it. Service was friendly enough, though we did wait a bit for the rice to come out. Still, for the price, it felt easy and relaxed. A decent spot if you're not in a hurry.

The mixed chopsuey rice was decent. Manchurian chicken had that sticky sweet-spicy coating, good enough. Place was quiet even on a Saturday night, no waiting around. Interior's dated but whatever. Staff kept checking on us, fine. Just wish the chopsuey had more crunch in the veggies.

The fruit salad with ice cream was a nice way to finish. Sri Lankan options looked good too, though I only tried that one thing.

The biryani was solid and the price felt fair. Service was a bit all over the place on a busy night though. I'd skip the sweet corn soup, it didn't do much for me.

Stopped by for a quick lunch and grabbed the grilled fish platter. Red snapper and prawns were done right, flaky and fresh. Staff handled the kids fine, no fuss. Place was a bit busy but food came out fast enough. Solid pick if you're nearby and hungry. 🐟
