Host Introduction
Hello everyone, I'm Sanni, an Eatwith host. I was born in the alleyways of Shanghai and moved to Japan to live and work in the late 1980s. After many years abroad, I returned to my hometown and now reside in the same alley where I grew up. My husband is a designer who, like me, holds deep affection for Shanghai's historic alleyways. Several years ago, we renovated an old villa in Xuhui District and started operating a small boutique hotel. Later, we also developed a hot spring resort in Moganshan. Driven by our passion for food, we began offering private dining at our guesthouses, gradually establishing our own ingredient bases in the mountains of Moganshan and by the sea in Dongtou Island. After the pandemic, we closed our boutique hotel in Shanghai and created a new hospitality space on Yongjia Road, focusing on private dining. Every day, we bring fresh ingredients from the mountains and seaside to create seasonal feasts. Welcome to join us for a tasting!

Highlights
This private dining venue on Yongjia Road is where the proprietor dubs their cuisine as the "Classic of Mountains and Seas."
The mountain refers to Moganshan. This private kitchen originated from the guest dining area of a Moganshan homestay, initially created to serve in-house guests. Using fresh ingredients sourced from the Moganshan mountains, the rustic flavors are paired with modern cooking techniques, presenting refreshing private dining dishes.
The mountains of Moganshan are adorned with evergreen bamboo and undulating terrain all year round. Though native ingredients are scarce here, each one that thrives is a rare "mountain delicacy." Amidst the forests, free-range bamboo chickens roam leisurely, alongside bamboo shoots, fern shoots, wild celery, and more.
The sea is the lifeblood of Dongtou fishing village, nurtured by the East China Sea. As Zhejiang's second largest fishing ground, seafood is Dongtou's undisputed specialty. Countless shellfish, fish, and algae... harvested in season and eaten fresh. It's truly authentic "ocean flavor." Our host chartered a fishing boat in Dongtou Island that navigates the surrounding waters daily. The catch is rushed from Dongtou in the morning, arriving in Shanghai still fresh and lively.

A conversation-worthy seafood feast is thus recreated on our private dining table.

Our private banquet venue is located in a standalone garden villa on Yongjia Road. Upon entering, you'll find a spacious garden filled with lush greenery, birds singing, and flowers blooming. On warm sunny days, it's absolutely delightful to sit outdoors with a few friends and enjoy afternoon tea. The first floor serves as a common area with a reception hall, and every Wednesday, there are free calligraphy workshops held here. The second floor features three exquisitely decorated private dining rooms of varying sizes, each with an elegant ambiance, making them the perfect choice for both casual gatherings and business banquets.
