The bus departed at 1:30 PM but wasn't full. It picked up passengers at another point along the way (the driver said the original bus broke down and they had to use another, causing the two groups to merge), and eventually filled up. There was a free scenic stop along the way to Shuimo Danxia for a few minutes of free time to visit. There was no pushy shopping during the entire trip; it was purely for transportation.
We arrived at the entrance of Shuimo Danxia at 3 PM. We entered by scanning our ID cards. During the off-season, the bus only departs when there are enough people (or waits for everyone arriving at the scenic area to board). We transferred from the bus to a sightseeing bus (there's a walk involved in the transfer), which took about 20 minutes to reach the entrance of the Danxia Scenic Trail. The trail closes at 4 PM. Around 4 PM, security personnel at the entrance will take photos and send them to the group chat to confirm the tourists' location and progress. Security personnel will also check on you at the middle and end points to confirm your safe arrival. The scenery on the trail is beautiful; if you walk quickly and don't stop for long periods, you can finish in about an hour. It's not difficult, but it's very sunny. At 5 PM, the last sightseeing bus will take you to the Jiuse Danqing viewing platform after you exit the hiking trail (security will confirm all tourists have exited and the bus will only depart after the last tourist boards) (you can also stay on the bus and go directly to the exit bus station). There is a short hiking trail at Jiuse Danqing, a round trip of ten minutes. After the visit, take the bus out of the scenic area at 5:40 PM. Return to the parking lot and the bus departs at 6 PM to return to the city, arriving back at Xiaoxihu subway station around 8 PM.
