Mount Emei is one of the four famous mountains of Chinese Buddhism, and it is also the temple of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva. There are numerous Buddhist monasteries in the mountains that combine to give this place a holy and serene atmosphere. The scenery in the mountains are beautiful. The four seasons each have their own characteristics. If you are lucky, you can see the sunrise and sea of clouds. Do note that the monkeys in Mount Emei are notoriously naughty. They are not afraid of people, and even take the initiative to ask tourists for food.

The Baoguo Temple, not far from Mount Emei, was built in the Wanli Period of the Ming Dynasty and is the starting point for most tourists to visit the Emei Mountain Scenic Area. The plaque of the "Baoguo Temple" on the temple gate is from the hand of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. It is also the center of the Buddhist activities in the mountains. The main hall is the Maitreya Hall, the Daxiong Hall, the Seven Buddha Hall and the Puxian Hall. Today it is home to the Emeishan Buddhist Association, where many large ceremonies are held.

Wannian Temple is located in the heart of Emei Mountain. It is one of the eight temples of Mount Emei. It was built in the DongJin Dynasty and has a long history. It was originally named Puxian Temple. It was named "Shengshou Wannian Temple" during the Ming Dynasty. The Beamless Hall in the temple were made up of brick structures, were built by the Wanli Emperor for his mother's birthday. In the "Xingyuan Building" in the temple, the Buddha's Tooth, the Bayeux and the Wanli Golden Seal are the treasures that tourists definitly don‘t want to miss.

The distance from Leidongping to the cable car station at Jieyindian isn't far for young people. Although it's all uphill stairs, it's not particularly steep, and a normal walk takes about 30 minutes. However, older people or those with less stamina should allow ample time. There are porters on the mountain who can carry you up, but it's quite expensive. For the cable car, I recommend a small one for both boarding and alighting, allowing for a short rest. Larger cable cars often have a lot of competition for glass seats, which can be unsafe and lead to arguments.

Great! Fun and delicious food! Long live Mount Emei! The cable car staff were attentive and helpful. The mountain was completely shrouded in fog, making it impossible to see the sunrise. It was quite nice though, as the sun didn't come out until noon. I saw the sun and each individual sun.
