Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park is located in the center of Hiroshima and was designed and constructed by Japanese architect Kenzo Tange in 1954. The park is lush with greenery, cherry blossoms in spring, and two rivers flow around the park, a stark contrast to the severe trauma caused by the atomic bombing of World War II. In the park, there are monuments to the victims of the atomic bombing, Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, etc. The Peace Memorial Ceremony is also held on August 6 every year.Hiroshima City · 12.1km from Hatsukaichi

The Atomic Bomb Dome, also known as the Hiroshima Peace Monument, was originally the Hiroshima Prefecture Industrial Award Hall, located on the banks of the Yuanyasu River in the center of Hiroshima. On August 6, 1945, the U.S. bombed Hiroshima with an atomic bomb, and almost all the buildings near the center of the explosion were razed to the ground. Today the ruins of the building are preserved as a memorial to the event and are listed on the World Heritage List. Family members of atomic bomb radiation victims are often encountered near the dome, and they will enthusiastically tell foreign tourists the story of the atomic bombing and their families in English. It is also a place frequently visited by local elementary and middle school students, and every year, peace groups from all walks of life in Japan hold commemorative activities here. The Hiroshima City Government built a Peace Park around the atomic bomb dome. In addition to numerous statues and monuments, the park also has a Peace Memorial Museum, which displays clothing, glasses, hair and other items that have experienced the atomic bomb. It is worth visiting one time. Every year on August 6th, the locals will hold a river lantern event on Yuanan River, and put various lanterns with eulogy and prayers into the river.Hiroshima City · 12.4km from Hatsukaichi

Miyajima, also called Itsukushima, is located in the southwest of Hiroshima Prefecture, and is listed as one of the "Three Views of Japan" along with Matsushima in Miyagi Prefecture and Amanohashidate in Kyoto Prefecture. There are world cultural heritage sites such as Itsukushima Shrine, Mishan, and many historic shrines and temples. When you come to Miyajima, you can see the Itsukushima Shrine built by the sea and the large vermilion torii that stands in the sea. This is a famous landscape of Miyajima. The elegant shrine of vermilion lacquer in the shrine combines with the blue of the sea in front of it and the emerald green of the virgin forest of Misan in the background, making people feel the beauty and splendor of the Heian period. In the sea about 200 meters in front of the shrine, there is a large red torii gate with a height of 16.6 meters, which is very eye-catching. In addition to Itsukushima Shrine, Miyajima has many other temples worth visiting. To the west of Itsukushima Shrine is the Daiganji Temple, which is famous for housing Japan's three major Bensaiten (one of the seven gods of good fortune). On the hill to the left (northeast) of the entrance to Itsukushima Shrine, there are five-storied pagodas that combine Japanese and Chinese styles, and Senjokaku, which is said to have a thousand tatami in the main hall. About 10 minutes southwest from Itsukushima Shrine, there is a Daisho-in Temple, where you can see many Buddhist halls, mandalas and Buddha statues. Misan is the main peak of Miyajima. There are many rare plants that can only be seen in Miyajima growing in the virgin forest on the mountain. It is also a good place to get close to nature. It is wonderful to take the aerial cable car to climb the mountain and see the magnificent scenery of Miyajima from mid-air; hiking from the foot of the mountain is also unique, and you will encounter many cute deer along the way. Next to the end of the ropeway is the Shishi Rock Observatory, from which you can enjoy the beautiful Seto Inland Sea. Continue to walk to the top of the mountain, and the 360-degree viewing angle is even more fascinating. On a clear day, you can see the peaks of Shikoku in the distance. In addition, there are many shrines, Buddhist pavilions and other historical sites that can be visited on the top of Misan Mountain.Hatsukaichi · 8.7km from downtown

About 200 meters in front of Itsukushima Shrine, there is a large red torii gate with a height of 16.6 meters, which is the iconic landscape of Miyajima. When the sea is high tide, the large torii gate, which is half-submerged by the sea, looks mysterious and spectacular, and it is especially beautiful when viewed from the stage "Before the Fire" that stretches out from Itsukushima Shrine. After the tide goes out, you can go directly to the bottom of the big torii gate and watch it up close. At dusk, the golden sky reflects the majestic appearance of the large torii gate, which is a good time to take pictures. At night, the shrine and the large torii gate will be lit up with lights, which has a unique flavor. If you stay overnight in Miyajima, the Itsukushima Shrine and the Great Torii Gate in the early morning are especially sacred, peaceful and beautiful, not to be missed.Hatsukaichi · 5.9km from downtown

The Senjo Pavilion in Miyajima is located next to the five-storied pagoda. In 1587, Fengcheng Hideyoshi recited a thousand Buddhist scriptures once a month in order to worship the dead. This is the largest building on the island, and it is called Senjokaku because it has a width of 857 tatami. However, due to the sudden death of Hideyoshi, the fortifications of Senjokaku were terminated in the middle of the way, and it still remains unfinished at that time.Hatsukaichi · 5.8km from downtown

Mount Misen is the main peak of Miyajima, with an altitude of 535 m. The primeval forest on the mountain is designated as a natural monument and is a forest primarily composed of coniferous trees mixed with some southern plants. You can also observe primitive plants growing in their natural state here. Taking the cable car up the mountain offers a wonderful view of the magnificent scenery of Miyajima from mid-air. Next to the cable car terminus is the Shishiiwa Observatory, from where you can fully enjoy the beautiful Seto Inland Sea. Continuing on foot to the summit, the 360-degree view is even more charming, and on clear days, you can even see the peaks of Shikoku in the distance. Visitors can also hike from the foot of the mountain, which has its own charm, and you will encounter many cute deer along the way. There are three hiking trails from different directions: the Momijidani Course, the Daishoin Course, and the Omoto Course. In addition, there are many historical sites such as shrines and temples to explore at the summit.Hatsukaichi · 7.7km from downtown

Sons of the Atomic Bomb is a peace memorial statue commemorating Sasaki and the thousands of children killed in the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The statue is 9 meters high and has a tripod dome-shaped pedestal. The dedicated girl holds the golden paper crane on the top of the mountain to symbolize the dream of peace in the future; the statues of young girls standing on the left and right symbolize a bright future and hope. Located in Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park in Hiroshima City, the statue was designed by Japanese artists Kazuo Kikuchi and Yo Ikebe and was unveiled on May 5, 1958 (Children's Day in Japan).Hiroshima City · 12.2km from Hatsukaichi

The five-story pagoda is a 27.6-meter-high tower built adjacent to Senjokaku on the east side of Itsukushima Shrine. It is said that it was built in 1407 and is designated as an important cultural property of Japan. Its architectural style ingeniously combines the Japanese and Tang styles. The cypress bark roof with the opposite angle upward is the Tang style, while the panel door at the entrance is the Japanese style. The interior of the five-story pagoda is generally not open to the public. The walls are painted with brightly colored Buddhist paintings, and the upper parts of the pillars are painted with exquisite golden brocade decorative paintings. The five-story pagoda usually has a central column that runs from the foundation to the top, but this five-story pagoda ends on the second floor, which is a very rare structure.Hatsukaichi · 5.8km from downtown

Experience Hiroshima's heart and history in one powerful spot: the iconic Atomic Bomb Dome. When I was on a business trip to Iwakuni City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, I took a train to near Miyajima and then took a ferry across. For lunch, I had the local specialty conger eel rice and a beer, then strolled over to the aquarium. As the sun gradually sank, I spent some time relaxing watching the sunset and the torii gates. On the way home, I had a few fried oysters and a beer, and it was a rare experience to watch the sun slowly sink.

The Miyajima Torii in Japan is the Torii of Itsukushima Shrine. It is a national important cultural property. It is about 16.6m high and weighs about 60 tons. The cypress roof is 24.2m long. The main column has a circumference of 9.9m and is made of natural nanmu. The current Torii was rebuilt in 1875, and it is the eighth generation since the Heian period. The upper beam is hollow, and it is filled with fist-sized stones totaling 7 tons, so it can stand in the ocean current without falling.

Daisho-in is the oldest temple in Miyajima. I often visit Daisho-in. I go to Miyajima just for this place. When I was undergoing cancer treatment, I wore a skin amulet I bought here, and they also blessed me during my surgery. I'm feeling much better now✨ With that in mind, I visit this temple whenever I have something. It is said to have been founded by Kobo Daishi "Kukai" and is said to be the oldest temple in Miyajima. It has been worshiped by successive powerful people such as the Ashikaga Shogunate, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Ito Hirobumi, and it is also famous for Toyotomi Hideyoshi rebuilding the prayer hall and donating the guardian Buddha statue, Namikiri Fudo Myo-o. It also has deep ties with the Imperial family, and the main hall was built by Emperor Toba, and Emperor Meiji apparently stayed at Daisho-in during his visits. ① On the stairs leading up to Daisho-in Temple, there is a Tibetan Buddhist tool called a Tenkyoki Manisha, which is said to have the same merit as chanting a sutra the number of times it is turned. I always turn it like crazy as I go up the stairs. lol ② Imperial Hall: The principal image is the "Nenjibutsu" (a Buddhist statue of the Buddha) that Toyotomi Hideyoshi prayed for victory and safety at sea, which was donated after unifying the country, and there are 100 and 1,000 wooden carved Fudo. You really feel like you're being watched when you enter here. ③ Put a powder called Henjokutsu Nukuko on your hands and pray. It's so fragrant that you can't get rid of it lol. The principal images of the 88 Shikoku temples are enshrined here, and sand from each of the 88 Shikoku temples is buried inside. It is said that if you step on the sand, you will receive the same benefits as if you had made the pilgrimage to the Shikoku temples. Here is the first image. From the exterior, Qianji Pavilion is very simple. It is a huge wooden Japanese temple. But after entering, you can see a little Seto Sea, set off by cherry blossoms, with a sense of tranquility and distance, you can rest and see.

Mishan is located behind Itsukushima Shrine and is a World Natural Heritage. Walking from the shrine to Misan, you will pass by a delicious shopping street and a beautiful forest road. There were a lot of people queuing up to take the cable car, but the signboards on both sides of the queuing were fun and not boring. The viewing platform after reaching the top of the mountain is very beautiful, allowing tourists to immediately see the beauty of Mishan. After walking through an ordinary mountain path, I was really serious about climbing. I would pass a few shrines first, and Zhu Yuyin was also quite unique. Finally, the scenery at the top of the mountain was vast, with green mountains and green water and tranquility. It takes one day to visit Misan and Itsukushima Shrine. The completely different beauty of the two places really made me feel a kind of peace of mind.

The monument represents a little girl reaching for a crane, which in Japan is a symbol of longevity and happiness. It is related to a true story of a little girl from Hiroshima who was only a few years old when the epidemic broke out and became very sick. She believed that if she made 1,000 paper cranes, she could be cured. It is very popular among children who decorate with cranes.

There are many places with five-story pagodas in Japan. This one on Miyajima is not a famous place, but the Senjokaku next door is very famous. It was built in the Hideyoshi era and is still a typical unfinished building. You can see the shadow of the five-story pagoda directly at the exit of Senjokaku. Because the pagoda is built on a small hill, it is still very conspicuous from a distance. Because it is well protected, you can't actually see that it has a long history. Starting from the small path next to the five-story pagoda, you can see small attractions such as the bearded pine, which is a small surprise that is worth the climb up the mountain.
