I've visited many temples recently, and Pingwu Bao'en Temple is definitely a hidden gem.
This temple, known as the "Forbidden City in the Mountains," has no monks and has preserved its original appearance from a thousand years ago to the greatest extent possible. Constructed of Phoebe zhennan wood, it uses mortise and tenon joints without a single nail. It boasts a Thousand-Hand Guanyin carved from a single piece of wood, a Ming Dynasty revolving sutra reel that can be manually rotated, and countless dragon carvings and ancient Ming Dynasty murals adorning the beams and pillars… Having withstood centuries of wind, rain, and earthquakes, it remains sturdy, truly a precious living specimen of Ming Dynasty wooden architecture.
