The Parthenon is located on the Acropolis of Athens, Greece, and is an important structure from the ancient Greek period, built in the 5th century BC. It was constructed in honor of Athena, the patron goddess of Athens, showcasing the advanced skills of the ancient Greeks in architecture and art. The temple features the Doric order style and is made of white marble, surrounded by a series of columns that create a solemn appearance. The Parthenon was not only a center for religious activities but also a significant site for the political and cultural life of Athens. Despite the changes and damages over history, this building remains a symbol of ancient Greek civilization, attracting visitors and scholars from around the world to explore and study.Greece · Athens

Beautiful and magnificent. Wear comfortable shoes and take a hat. I wasn’t well prepared for the amount of walking.

This was taken on the Acropolis: Temple of Victory (Figure 3), Parthenon (Figure 5. Still under renovation), Erechtheion (Figures 4 and 5), Dionysus Theatre, Atticus Theatre. The guided tour I bought a day in advance was very good. We set off at 5pm, just as the sun was about to set. It was not hot at all, and there were not many tourists. The tour guide was a historian, and the content he introduced along the way was very detailed. Including the story behind the construction of the Acropolis Museum, the trees on the Acropolis Hill, the Acropolis has experienced several disasters and historical changes, Athens' efforts in the field of international recovery of cultural relics (to the British Museum), the story of Dionysus, the god of medicine, the goddess of war, the goddess of wisdom, and the three main gods Poseidon. Another surprise is that there are so many cats in the Acropolis! They are the only guests who can enter and exit the temple at will. The staff will regularly put cat food for the stray cats.
