Qi River, known in ancient times as Qishui, originates from Qizi Mountain in Lingchuan, Shanxi, flows through Qi County, Hebi, Henan, and is an important tributary of the Wei River in the Haihe River Basin. It is also the mother river of the ancient land of Zhaoge and is known as the "Poetry River of China." The section flowing through Qi County is nestled against the foothills of the Taihang Mountains on its west bank, with a river valley that alternates between narrow and wide, featuring both canyon cliffs and gentle mudflats. The banks retain numerous historical imprints from the Yin-Shang and Wei State periods, with ancient ferry crossings and stone bridges scattered along the riverside, witnessing the past of the ancient capital of Zhaoge. Following ecological restoration, riverside walkways and wetland view belts have been built along the banks. Reeds and weeping willows spread along the river, and the water area has become a habitat for water birds such as egrets and herons. The scenery has its own charm in every season: lush vegetation in spring and summer, and colorful forests along the banks in autumn. It preserves the poetic charm found in ancient poetry while also witnessing the contemporary changes in river and lake ecology. When you come to Qi County and stroll along the banks of the Qi River, you can feel the clear river view beneath the Taihang Mountains and understand the ancient Central Plains culture flowing within the river water.Qi County · 9km from downtown

Bigan is a historical patriotic advisor. His heart was dug out by King Zhou due to his direct admonition. After King Wu successfully overthrew the Shang Dynasty, considerating Bigan's loyalty, he built a cemetery for him; later, King Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty built the Bigan Temple. Among commoners, Bigan was seen as an ambassador of fairness and justice, and was respected as the God of Wealth and Wenquxing. The Bigan Temple was designed facing south, and its main buildings include Bigan Temple Archway, Bigan Wealth Cultural Square, Danxin Archway, Monument Corridor, Main Hall, and Tombstone Pavilion. The temple is quaint and spectacular, and contains a large number of historical and cultural treasures.Weihui · 18.6km from Qi County

Millennium City Park

Millennium City Park is located by the Longting Lake in Kaifeng, a large-scale historical and cultural theme park that faithfully recreates the Northern Song Dynasty's capital based on the famous painting "Along the River During the Qingming Festival" by artist Zhang Zeduan, following the original layout at a 1:1 scale. The park is divided into two sections by the Shuangting Bridge: the southern area recreates the bustling urban life of Bianjing, with taverns, teahouses, pawnshops, and artisan workshops lining the streets, where peddlers with shoulder poles and shouting shop assistants move about; while the northern area features imperial gardens, with lakeside halls and quadrangular courtyards standing by the water. Staff and vendors throughout the park wear Song-style attire, accompanied by ancient music and the rhythmic sounds of bells and drums, creating the illusion of "stepping into a painting and traveling back a thousand years in a single day." The architecture here offers visually striking highlights: the Rainbow Bridge spanning the Bian River replicates the famous bridge from ancient paintings, arching like a rainbow—watching grain barges pass beneath recreates the painting's ambiance. Fuyun Pavilion towers above all other structures with its crimson facade and golden-roofed eaves, offering panoramic garden views. The reconstructed Shangshan Gate mirrors Kaifeng's Northern Song dynasty city gates, standing majestic with resplendent paintings as the garden's most imposing structure. Waterside pavilions like Shuixin Xie, Double Pavilion Bridge, and Nine Dragons Bridge dot the emerald waters in picturesque harmony. The daytime highlight is the scattered live performances throughout the park: "Judge Bao inspecting the Bian River grain transport" unfolds on the water by Rainbow Bridge, "Squire Wang's daughter seeking a husband" brings the embroidered ball tossing matchmaking to the streets, and "Yue Fei unhorsing Prince Xiao Liang" stirs up dust with galloping hooves in the drill ground. Folk performances like cockfighting, stilt walking, cuju (ancient football), and pan drumming are interspersed throughout. Families with children can visit Fun Garden and Great Song Games to try archery, dart throwing, rope climbing, and hoop diving—experiencing every Song dynasty game from a thousand years ago—or dress in period costumes at Square Courtyard to take mock imperial exams. Street-side workshops showcase folk crafts like Bian embroidery, Zhuxian Town woodblock prints, official kiln porcelain, and dough figurines, where visitors can watch artisans at work. The park takes on a different face after nightfall: red lanterns light up one after another, and the streets are ablaze with lights, making it seem like a completely different place from daytime. The large-scale water show "Northern Song Dynasty: Splendid Dreams of Dongjing" is performed on Jinglong Lake. The entire show is connected by eight classic Song Dynasty poems and a scroll of "Along the River During the Qingming Festival," transporting the audience back to Dongjing of the Northern Song Dynasty a thousand years ago. The performance lasts approx. 70 minutes, and many travelers specifically reserve their itinerary for the evening to wait for this show. After the performance, you might as well climb the Shangshan Gate tower to overlook the park scenery and the night view of Kaifeng under the lights. Dining in the park is also convenient: the snack street and night market around the Dongjing food area gather Kaifeng snacks like soup dumplings and mutton pancake, perfect for eating while strolling; for a proper sit-down meal, head to Sunyang Restaurant, a recreation of the "main shop" depicted in paintings, and try traditional Henan dishes such as soup dumplings and carp with noodles.Kaifeng · 89.7km from Qi County

The scenery is really good, a Feng Shui treasure land in the deep mountains. But the distance between the gate and the scenic spot is dozens of kilometers, which is unimaginable. You have to take a local's private car. The car condition is really bad. The private cars are parked randomly, causing congestion. It's too chaotic.

It's not tiring to visit the scenic area. You can stop and go and finish the tour in about four hours. I feel relaxed and look forward to visiting again next time! The bronze statue of Emperor Xuanwu on the top of the bronze roof is taken by a tour bus. There are many people visiting! Everyone comes to worship with a pious heart!

🌿 Qi River·China's Poetic River | Strolling through the secret landscape of the Book of Songs 🌊 1. The beauty of water quality: a rare "ecological miracle" in the north - Clear as glass, touch like silk: The river water is extremely transparent. When rowing, you can see "water plants like dense forests, sand and stones moving with the waves", and you can see fish and small stones directly. The water is refreshing and refreshing. Some swimmers even praise it as "smooth as silk, sweet as spring water", and jokingly call it "entering the water like a fish". - Pure ecology, rare creatures live: As one of the few unpolluted rivers in North China, the Qi River breeds the "giant panda in the water" peach blossom jellyfish, and is also famous for the "three treasures of the Qi River" (carp, silk-wrapped duck eggs, and seedless dates). The water quality has created unique products. 🏞️ 2. Scenery: From poetic and picturesque countryside to internet celebrity landmark - Classical poetry: willows on the river bank, blue waves reflecting the mountains, "like a fairyland" when the morning mist is lingering, "waves like diamonds falling on jade belts" on sunny days, and "big and small pearls falling on jade plates" after the rain. The ancients' artistic conception of "Qi River gurgling, cypress oars and pine boats" can still be felt today. - Modern vitality: - Sangyuan Town: Blue brick and gray tile houses in northern Henan blend with food streets and cultural and art markets, the water under the bridge falls into a natural water park, and the summer crowds surge. - Qi River Valley: 5D glass plank road is suspended above the "Little Jiuzhai", and the 2,380-meter high mountain glass drifting is winding and swirling, suitable for both movement and stillness. - Wetland Park: a national ecological demonstration area, with reeds and water birds, hot springs that do not freeze in winter, and the scenery of "green mirror reflecting the sky" can be enjoyed in all seasons. 📜 3. The depth of cultural context: a river of poetry that has flowed for thousands of years - The mother river of "The Book of Songs": 39 ancient poems sing the scenery of the Qi River. "Looking at the Qi River, the green bamboos are lush" in "Wei Feng" outlines the earliest landscape painting, and Li Bai, Wang Wei and others have left their footprints. - Symphony of seclusion and life: old people can still be seen fishing on the shore like sculptures, and chess games are played under the shade of trees. It coexists with folk performances and outdoor classes in Sangyuan Town, and ancient and modern life resonates here. ⚠️ 4. Hidden worries and protection: fragile purity - The double-edged sword of tourism development: the surge in tourists has led to a decrease in wetland birds, and some sections of the river have too many artificial traces (such as dense puddles), and the lack of facilities such as toilets has been criticized. - Conservation actions: Local authorities have designated protected areas, nurtured wetlands, and built them with the concept of "sponge cities" (sunken green spaces, planted grass ditches, etc.), striving to balance ecology and tourism. 📝 V. Travelers say: Practical tips - Best experience: - Summer water-friendly: Swimming in Heilongtan, playing in the water under Sangyuan Bridge, and feeling the "cool" river bath. - Autumn poetry: Cycling along the river or strolling along the wetland plank road, watching the golden elm and the clear water. 💎 Summary: Why is it worth a visit? > The beauty of the Qi River lies in the "clear and clean" water, the leisure of "half a day of floating life", and the thickness of "a stream of poetic soul". It is not as magnificent as the Li River, but with its gentle and jade-like northern temperament, it has become a "paradise" within reach of urban people. It is better to go there early while its purity has not faded - after all, the promise of "green water and green mountains" needs you and me to witness together.

Pavilions stand by the water, green trees surround the streets, and houses stretch endlessly. Without excessive hustle and bustle, it is a vivid scene of bustling city life unfolding from the scroll of "Along the River During the Qingming Festival" right before our eyes, with the gentle smoke of cooking fires and the charm of ancient times.
