Ski resort Jasenská Dolina
Ski resort Jasenská Dolina is a year-round recreation centre located on the Turiec side of Velika Fatra, 12 km southeast of Martin, at the foot of the northern slope of Lysec mountain. One of the great advantages of the resort is that it has an in-house snowmaking system (snowmaking machine from the company LATEMAR). Orava Castle
Located in the village of Oravský Podzámok in the Zilina Region of Slovakia, Orava Castle is a medieval fortress perched on a cliff above the Orava (Orava River). Orava Castle is the oldest preserved castle in Europe. Here you are able to take either a self guided tour, or a group tour with a guide. I highly recommend taking the tour with a guide as we were able to ask questions and were taken on the best route through the castle. This castle is also the only location in Europe that has preserved garments that are almost 1000 years old. At the highest point of the castle you are able to see beautiful panoramic views of the land below. This is a must see if you are in the area! There is also a great restaurant at the base of the mountain and plenty of little stalls that sell souvenirs.
