Eden Hotel
The Eden Hotel is a former hotel and historic site in La Falda, Argentina, 45 kilometers from Córdoba City Hall. It is one of the oldest surviving examples of colonial architecture in South America. Built by German officer Roberto Bahlcke in partnership with local businessmen and investors, the hotel was a favorite of the upper classes of La Falda and the entire Punilla Valley, as well as European tourists. Throughout its history, the Eden Hotel served leisure travelers and was intertwined with political and cultural events. Its ownership and management changed several times during World War I and World War II, with the government taking control of the property in light of the wartime circumstances. Efforts to operate and revitalize the hotel continued in the 1960s, but it subsequently ceased to accommodate guests. In the years that followed, the vacant property suffered repeated vandalism. The hotel closed in 1965 and has not welcomed guests since. It was designated a historical monument in 1988.
