The famous Taoist temple Duiyun Cave is located in Donggou, Shangniu Village, Shuitou Town, 25 kilometers west of Xia County. It was built in the early Yuan Dynasty, located at the foot of Jiwang Mountain, hidden between loess gullies. Because the building complex looks like clouds stacked from a distance, and the cave steps are connected when entering the cliff, it is named "Duiyun Cave". After continuous construction and expansion during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it has formed a building wonder of building houses on houses, courtyards in courtyards, caves in caves, Taoism follows nature, and stacked structures. It is known as "Little Bulada" and is praised as "enlarged bonsai and concentrated fairyland". In 1922, Jia Kangjie founded the "Common People's Middle School" in this Taoist temple, using it as a forum for spreading new ideas and new culture, and recruited more than 1,200 people from nine northern provinces to study, most of whom became the backbone of the time.Xia County · 20.1km from downtown

Yuncheng Salt Lake is located in the ancient Hedong region at the southern tip of Shanxi Province. Bordered by the Zhongtiao Mountains to the south, the Emei Ridge to the north, the Taihang Mountains to the east, and the Yellow River to the west, it spans a total area of 132 square kilometers. With higher elevations around its perimeter and a lower center, its shape resembles a pristine jade belt, making it one of the world's three major sodium sulfate inland lakes. Formed during the Himalayan tectonic movement of the Quaternary period of the Cenozoic era, the lake accumulated vast amounts of salt-rich minerals as mountains rose and seas receded. Over time, sedimentation and evaporation created this natural salt lake. Salt sculptures, crafted from the local Hedong salt of Yuncheng Salt Lake, blend elements of painting and carving with scientific formulas and specialized techniques to produce exquisite handmade artworks. These lifelike, jade-white sculptures not only enhance home decor but also release negative ions to purify the air and alleviate work-related stress. The lake is also home to a unique and rare creature—the brine shrimp, also known as fairy shrimp. Thriving in salt concentrations of 4%–18%, these shrimp are best observed from April to October, when their reddish-brown or bright red hues create stunning "rose lake" spectacles as they float in dense clusters. Another must-visit attraction is the bamboo raft experience. Drifting leisurely across this millennia-old salt lake, visitors can enjoy the gentle southern breeze while watching rare birds frolic and feed on the central island. This harmonious interaction between humans and nature offers a one-of-a-kind recreational escape.Yuncheng · 26.3km from Xia County

Mulberry Drifting is located in the Zhongtiao Mountain Grand Canyon eco-tourism attraction in Xia County, Yuncheng. With an average elevation of over 1,100 meters, the drifting course spans approximately 9 km, making it one of Shanxi's longest natural canyon drifts with a duration of about 2 hours. Board a two- or three-person raft and let your fingers skim the crisp mountain spring water—filtered free of worldly clamor by the streams and dense forests. As the boat plunges into winding rapids and waves crash over you, screams echo through the canyon, immersing you in nature's untamed pulse. Professional guides accompany you throughout, so safety is assured—just surrender to the thrill (without real danger). For families, it's a moving natural classroom where kids learn about canyon landscapes while laughter measures the journey. Couples glide together on shared rafts, gripping each other through the rapids and admiring golden sunsets on calm stretches, letting the canyon witness their synchronized heartbeats. We measure every inch of the river with (green, healthy, pristine, natural) standards; we connect every experience with (safety, civility, joy) as our guiding principles. From boarding to disembarking, we safeguard your smiles throughout the journey, letting the city's noise fade with the waves—leaving only the pure exhilaration of the wilderness rippling in your heart.Xia County · 33.3km from downtown

History background: Shaanxi History Museum is located in the northwest of the Dayan Pagoda in Xi'an. It is one of the landmark attractions of Xi'an. The museum was planned in 1983, started in the summer of 1986, and officially opened on June 20, 1991. It was named Shaanxi History Museum. In 2016, Shaanxi History Museum was selected as "China's 20th Century Architectural Heritage" by the Chinese Cultural Relics Society and the Chinese Architectural Society. Museum Features: Shaanxi History Museum is a large modern museum, and its completion marks a new milestone in the development of China's museum industry. This museum is a Tang-style building complex with a "central hall and four corner towers". The main and secondary buildings are well-organized, the heights are staggered, and the momentum is solemn. It integrates national traditions, local characteristics and the spirit of the times. The museum covers an area of 65,000 square meters, and houses more than 380,000 cultural relics ranging from simple stone tools used in the initial stage of ancient humans to various artifacts in social life before 1840, covering a time span of more than one million years. The cultural relics are not only numerous and diverse, but also of high quality and wide value. The collections in the museum are dazzling and exquisite. It is an art hall that showcases the history and culture of Shaanxi and ancient Chinese civilization, and is known as the "Pearl of the Ancient Capital, the Treasure House of China." There are many treasures in the museum, including bronzes from the Shang and Zhou dynasties, pottery figurines from various dynasties, gold and silver utensils from the Han and Tang dynasties, and murals from Tang tombs. Most of them are treasures from the prosperous periods of the Han and Tang dynasties, and some of them are fine items that are prohibited from leaving the country. Collection treasures: There are three exhibition halls in the center of the museum. The first exhibition hall displays cultural relics from the prehistoric civilization of Lantian ape-man 1.15 million years ago to the Qin Dynasty; the second exhibition hall displays cultural relics from the Han Dynasty and the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties; and the third exhibition hall is mainly cultural relics from the prosperous Tang Dynasty. Each exhibition hall has its own treasure. There are special exhibition halls on the east and west sides of the central hall. On the west side, there is a "Special Exhibition of Tang Dynasty Treasures (Treasure Hall, Cultural Relics Unearthed in Hejiacun)", where many fine gold and silver wares from the heyday of the Tang Dynasty were transferred to be exhibited. On the east side, there is a "Treasures of Tang Dynasty Murals Exhibition", which exhibits a number of authentic Tang Dynasty tomb murals. The tripod The tripod is placed in the first exhibition hall at the entrance of the museum, and it can be said to be the treasure of the first exhibition hall. The replica is placed here, and the original is kept in the warehouse. Inscription on the outer wall: The inscription "All under heaven is the king's land; all the people are the king's subjects" reflects the land ownership system in the Western Zhou Dynasty. There are four lines of inscriptions with 28 characters on the inner wall of the Yi Ding. The general meaning is: In early August of a certain year, Wang Jiang took back the land originally given to Shi Lu and gave it to Yi, who then made this tripod to commemorate it. Queen's Seal: One of the treasures worth seeing in the second exhibition hall is the jade seal of the empress of the Han Dynasty, which is displayed separately. The seal is made of Xinjiang Hetian mutton-fat jade and is engraved with a Chihu, symbolizing royal power. Three-color camel figurines carrying music: This world-famous tri-color camel figurine carrying music is located in the third exhibition hall of Shaanxi History Museum. Its overall appearance and color are well preserved. There are seven men sitting on the camel's back, holding different musical instruments in their hands. Among them, the figurine holding the clapboard is listening attentively, as if intoxicated by the wonderful music. The woman in the middle is performing, and the camel opens its mouth wide and looks up to the sky, as if it is also singing with its master. Gold-inlaid animal head agate cup: This cultural relic, located in the special exhibition "Tang Dynasty Relics Special Exhibition", is one of the first 64 national treasures listed by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage that are never allowed to be exhibited abroad. There are also many other treasures such as black-glazed oil-drip bowls, green-glazed porcelain pots with handles, gilded silver bamboo-joint copper incense burners, gold bowls with mandarin duck and lotus petal patterns, and so on.China · Xi'an

Sima Wengong Ancestral Hall (Third Batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units) Built in the second year of the Zhiping era of the Song Dynasty (1065), it commemorates the family of Sima Guang, a politician, historian, and prime minister of the Northern Song Dynasty. Sima Guang (November 17, 1019 – October 11, 1086), courtesy name Junshi, sobriquet Yusou, commonly known as Mr. Sushui, Passed the imperial examination at the age of twenty and served under four emperors: Renzong, Yingzong, Shenzong, and Zhezong, reaching the highest position of Left Vice Minister of the Ministry of Personnel (equivalent to prime minister). Opposed Wang Anshi's reforms and devoted himself to writing the *Zizhi Tongjian*. After Zhezong ascended the throne, he served as prime minister in his later years, but unfortunately died after only eight months. Emperor Zhezong commissioned Grand Academician Su Shi to write the inscription and personally inscribed the plaque "Stele of Loyalty, Integrity, and Pure Virtue." Yuqing Zen Temple Main Hall Built in the second year of the Zhiping era of the Northern Song Dynasty (1065), it served as the ancestral shrine and incense hall for Sima Guang. In the eighth year of the Yuanfeng reign (1085), Emperor Shenzong bestowed the name "Yuqing Chan Temple" upon it. The existing main hall has five bays in width and six bays in depth, with a single-eave gable roof, retaining the characteristics of Song Dynasty architecture. Fine Song Dynasty sculptures. The stele inscribed "Imperial Decree Granting Yuqing Chan Temple" clearly shows the Yuanfeng reign title.

The artifacts in the Yuncheng Museum are undoubtedly excellent and well worth seeing. The various statues of Guan Yu from different eras and styles are particularly noteworthy. The only area for improvement is the lack of a single elevator. I had walked a lot before and my legs were sore, so I used a wheelchair. However, when I visited, the museum's only elevator was under repair. Fortunately, I'm not truly disabled and could stand up and walk a few steps to take the escalator to the second and third floors. Someone completely unable to stand would likely only be able to explore the first floor. I believe that a national first-class museum should have at least two elevators.

There are fewer people than expected, the environment is very good, the service is in place, and it is interesting. If I have the opportunity to go again, I will consider staying in a hotel there. Oh, by the way, the mudflats at the door are really smelly... It is recommended that the scenic area be cleaned up
