The Red Stone Forest has both the rough and bold momentum of the north and the graceful and elegant mood of the south. Walking through the rock forest composed of countless stone peaks, stone pillars, stone buds and stalagmites, it is like a bonsai. From a distance, it is ups and downs and majestic, and from a close distance, it is well-arranged and lifelike, testing the imagination of visitors at every moment. The Chinese ancestor stone and the statues of Fuxi and Nuwa standing on the top of the mountain carry the 5,000-year-old civilization of the Chinese nation and also witness the ancient Qinwei legacy. Enter the tourist service center at the foot of Fuxi Mountain, recall the past at Huimeng Bridge, and express your feelings by Xiaoyu Lake. Or go to Huimeng Village to find and capture the historical clouds of the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. Erqi Square

519 reviews
Erqi Square is located in the heart of Zhengzhou and is a highly recognizable city landmark, as well as the core of the established commercial district. The square is named after the 1923 Beijing-Hankou Railway workers' strike. When it was built in 1951, a wooden tower was erected, and in 1971, it was rebuilt on the original site into the current twin-tower structure—the Erqi Memorial Tower. The memorial tower is 63 m tall and has 14 floors. Each floor features traditional-style upturned eaves covered with green glazed tiles. The twin-tower design is rare among commemorative buildings in China. Inside the tower is the Erqi Memorial Hall, which displays historical materials and artifacts from the strike. It is especially worth noting the clock tower at the top: every hour on the hour, the bell plays "The East Is Red," and the sound has echoed over the city center for years, serving as a familiar urban memory for many Zhengzhou residents. At dusk, as the lights come on, the tower and the surrounding commercial district light up together, making the square's night view perfect for photos. The adjacent Dehua Pedestrian Street is a hub for snacks and dining, so you can grab a bite after exploring. If you are visiting Zhengzhou for the first time, you can see both the city's historical character and its bustling daily life here.Zhengzhou · 34.5km from Xinmi

Cherry Valley Scenic Spot is located on the outskirts of Zhengzhou City. It is rich in early-ripening cherries, which are delicious, bright in color and pleasing to the eye. In addition, the environment in the scenic area is beautiful and the air is fresh. When the cherry blossoms bloom in March every year, the fragrance of flowers is overflowing and the scenery is charming. In May, the cherries are ripe, and the fiery red fruits all over the mountains and fields are hanging on the branches, which is extremely attractive. The Cherry Valley Scenic Area stretches for 15 kilometers, with rolling hills and ravines. The deep ditch is full of verdant cherry trees, and the scenery is very pleasant. Cherries have been planted here for thousands of years, and the cherries produced here are large and thick, rich in color and sweet in taste. There are still some old trees with more than 100 years of blooming and fruiting every year in Cherry Valley, which has become a major landscape. These cherries are like crystal clear red agate, which makes people's heart beat. Tourists can not only enjoy the beautiful rural scenery here, but also taste delicious cherries, participate in farm work experience, eat farm dishes, go fishing, participate in bonfire parties, etc. It is a paradise for the surrounding citizens to return to nature and return to nature.Zhengzhou · 20.3km from Xinmi

Song Du Huangcheng Cultural Tourism Resort is located in the northern part of the old city of Kaifeng, precisely on the site of the imperial palace of the Northern Song Dynasty's Dongjing city. The millennium-old central axis of Kaifeng runs through this area, making it the core zone of the royal culture of the Song Dynasty. Here, you can find the Song-style imperial architecture of the Longting attraction, the tales of the Yang Family Generals at Tianbo Yang's residence, and the calligraphic steles of Han Yuan Stele Forest. The Shuanglong Lane historical and cultural block, 960 Cultural and Creative Park, and Qisheng Corner have transformed old streets and courtyards into Song-style blocks perfect for leisurely exploration. The resort also connects a series of Song culture attractions: Wansui Mountain Great Song Martial Arts City stages year-round martial arts live shows and intangible cultural heritage iron fireworks, while historic sites like the Iron Pagoda, Kaifeng city wall, Zhouqiao and Bian River ruins, Shanshangan Guild Hall, Yanqing Taoist Temple, and Fan Pagoda are scattered across the old city, along with niche spots like the underground wartime grain storage. These places are hard to cover in one day, so we recommend focusing on two or three key sites. After dark, a different experience awaits as the attractions light up in unison. Boarding a painted pleasure boat on the Great Song Imperial River to watch the illuminated pavilions and towers sway with the rippling water is a popular nightlife option here.Kaifeng · 92.7km from Xinmi

It combines a zoo and an amusement park. Suitable for children under 10. It has everything, but nothing is done exceptionally well. The price-performance ratio isn't high. At least not as good as Qingming Riverside Park or Wansui Mountain Martial Arts City. The food inside is a bit pricey.

Overall, it's not bad. Many facilities are still under construction. The area outside the scenic spot is a bit messy, there's no proper parking lot, and there are many small, scattered vendors at the entrance, which doesn't give a good impression. The area inside the scenic spot is quite nice, and it will be a great place to visit once everything is completed.

If you ask me which mountains around Zhengzhou are worth visiting, my first recommendation is Fuxi Mountain. Many people have a misconception about Fuxi Mountain, thinking it's all admission-only, but that's not true. Some attractions are free, and you can have a great time enjoying the natural scenery.

In recent years, Fuxi Mountain has become a very good summer resort around Zhengzhou. I always thought it was just a very simple and ordinary hillside. But after coming here this time, I found that Fuxi Mountain is really a very good summer resort. The temperature on the mountain here is very cool. When it does not exceed 30 degrees, it seems that there is no need to turn on the air conditioner even in the hottest time. Sometimes you need to cover yourself with a quilt at night. The entire Fuxi Mountain is free to visit, but there are some paid attractions in Fuxi Mountain. I personally prefer the free Red Stone Forest Scenic Area. The entire scenic area is free here. It only takes 1 to 2 hours to complete a circle. The time is not very tight, and the scenery is still beautiful. Here you can see the landscape of the Red Stone Forest very prominently, which also makes me feel very magical. The stones next to it are still black, and after arriving at the Red Stone Forest, the stones inside have become red. Especially at sunset, the scenery of the Red Stone Forest is particularly prominent.

I was initially puzzled when I saw the Erqi Monument Tower rising in the middle of Zhengzhou’s bustling commercial district. The twin towers did not appear as majestic as the famous Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur. Yet the following day, when the museum inside the tower opened, I stepped in to learn its story — and came to understand that this monument was erected in 1971 to commemorate the February 7th Railway Workers’ Strike of 1923.In February 1923, more than 30,000 railway workers went on strike to protest harsh working conditions and exploitation by railway authorities, halting trains across 1,200 kilometers of track. Warlord Wu Peifu ordered troops to violently suppress the movement. Soldiers opened fire, killing 52 workers, injuring hundreds, and arresting over 1,000. The strike, organized by early Communist Party members and railway unions, ended in tragedy but became a foundational myth of China’s Communist movement. In March 1923, Chairman Mao reflected on the strike, writing that it revealed “the heroic spirit of the workers” but also proved that “without the alliance of peasants and workers, the revolution cannot succeed.” This lesson shaped the CCP’s strategy, convincing Mao that the Party must broaden its base beyond urban workers to include China’s vast peasant population. The February 7th Railway Workers’ Strike remains one of China’s earliest and most significant uprisings, linking the labor movement with the emerging Communist revolution. A visit to the museum inside the Erqi Tower offers not just a glimpse of history, but a deeper understanding of the revolutionary struggle that the monument embodies.

The Zhengzhou Museum was much bigger than I expected you’ll probably need around 3 hours to really explore it all.My favorite exhibits were The Center of Heaven and Earth, The Art of Clay and Fire. What fascinated me most was what’s written in one of the exhibits about The Immortal World. After generations marked by war and heavy forced labor during the Qin and Han periods, the longing for immortality seems to reflect something deeply human. Trauma doesn’t only shape the body it also shapes belief, hope, and the stories people tell themselves. In many ways, the dream of an eternal world feels like a psychological response to a life filled with uncertainty and suffering.History doesn’t just preserve objects; it preserves the human mind.

It's very worthwhile, but it's also very crowded, which might slightly detract from the overall experience. However, the people are incredibly welcoming, and there are many beautiful spots for taking photos. The food is also affordable and inexpensive, which kids enjoy. I'll definitely go back when it's less crowded.
