Xijindu Ancient Street is a place with a lot of character; it is full of old buildings with a richly historic feel. As you stroll through this ancient mountainside street, you will experience the face of the old city of Zhenjiang and sample its delicious “pot cover noodles.” The night-time scenery is beautiful. There are few people and it is very quiet. Staying at a youth hostel here is a unique experience.Zhenjiang · 2.7km from downtown

Yangzhou Ancient Grand Canal refers to the section of the river from Zhuyuwan Scenic Area to Gaomin Temple. The area most sightseers visit lies between Yangzhou's Nanmen Wharf and Bianyimen Square Wharf. Along this section of road there are famous sights such as the Dongguan Street Historic Street and District. You can enjoy the sights on foot or by boat. There are good green areas beside the Ancient Grand Canal, where green willows gentely crept over the water, like poetic descriptions of Jiangnan. At night the riverside is lit up, the night scenery of which is beautiful.Yangzhou · 24.6km from Zhenjiang

Dongguan Street is located in the center of Yangzhou. The main street is made from slates which had been paved piece by piece. Walking along the street, you can often catch glimpses of the salt merchants' courtyards made from blue bricks and gray tiles. The areas where local food and specialties are concentrated add to the fascination for visitors. It is truly worthy of its reputation as a representative historical old street of Yangzhou City. Dongguan Street extends in the east to the Ancient Canal and in the west to Guoqing Road. It is 1,122 meters long in total. The Dongguan Ancient Pier on its eastern end was a bustling terminal of Yangzhou in the Tang Dynasty. The presence of the pier had enabled the development of the trade-intensive downtown Dongguan Street. The current Dongguan Street still maintains its appearance during the Ming and Qing Dynasties.Yangzhou · 23.4km from Zhenjiang

Mengxi Garden is the place where Shen Kuo, a famous scientist of the Northern Song Dynasty, lived in his later years. He wrote the scientific masterpiece "Mengxi Bi Tan" here. Dr. Needham, a British scientist who studies the history of Chinese science and technology in modern times, praised "Mengxi Bi Tan" as a scientific coordinate of the eleventh century. The Mengxi Garden is simple and elegant, with elegant scenery. There are buildings such as An Laotang, Xiaoxiaotang, Kexuan, Shenzhai, Yuanting, Cangxia Pavilion, and a stream flows through the garden. The overall building is in the style of the Qing Dynasty. In the back hall, there are full body statues of Shen Kuo, text pictures, models, and real objects, showing Shen Kuo's scientific research achievements in astronomy, geography, mathematics, chemistry, physics, biology, geology, and medicine. The couplets on the two pairs of pillars in the room are a high summary and evaluation of Shen Kuo's life: "Shen Kuo is intoxicated in the East China Sea, West Hunan, Sichuan and Northern Kingdoms, and the mountains are especially magnificent; it includes astronomical phenomena, geology, humanities and physics." "Several volumes of strange relics and chronicles have no intention to evenly ink; in the early month of June, the south and the north are driving for the common people."Zhenjiang · 3.9km from downtown

Because the word "Zhaoguan" is engraved on the pagoda, it is named "Zhaoguan Stone Pagoda". Because of its shape like a bottle, it is also called "bottle tower". According to legend, it was built when Sun Quan and Liu Bei married during the Three Kingdoms period, and it was called "Stone Bottle" in those days. In fact, it was built in the late Yuan and early Ming. The Zhaoguan Stone Pagoda is a Lama-style stone pagoda. The lower half of the pagoda is built with blocks of stones, forming four stone pillars. It lies in the middle of the small street, adding a lot of quaint elegance to this riverside town. The stone tower was built on this pedestal. The tower is 4.69 meters high. The tower base, the tower body and the tower top are all carved with bluestone. The tower base is made up of two identical sumeru bases, and the sumeru base is covered with a lotus seat and a flat drum-shaped tower body. There are 13 belt-shaped reliefs on the top, symbolizing the 13 layers of the sky. On the top are the Falun and the circular lotus seat. The "Eight Treasures" are engraved on the wheel, and the top of the tower is on it. There are the same inscriptions on the banners on the east and west sides of the pedestal of the stone pagoda.Zhenjiang · 3km from downtown

Wenchang Pavilion is a landmark tower in the center of Yangzhou's old city. It was originally part of the Yangzhou Prefecture School complex, built on the Wenjin Bridge that spanned the Wen River. Standing over 20 m tall, it is a three-story brick-and-wood structure with an octagonal base and arched doorways on all four sides connecting to the surrounding streets. The second and third stories feature windows around the perimeter and taper inward as they rise, crowned with a pointed spire. From a distance, it bears a resemblance to the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests at the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, and it once displayed a plaque reading "Handan Cultural Pivot." The building is surrounded by roads on all sides, creating a striking contrast between modern urban transportation and this traditional tower. Its main structure is visible from various directions along the streets. Especially at night when illuminated, the building's silhouette becomes even more prominent, making it a visual centerpiece of the surrounding urban view.Yangzhou · 22.9km from Zhenjiang

Pishi Street is an old street over 600m long in the core area of the ancient city of Yangzhou. It is also a passageway connecting the two major historical and cultural districts of Dongguan Street and Nanhexia. Many tourists stop by after visiting Dongguan Street. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, it developed into a specialized fur market, with the southern section mainly selling fur clothing and hats, and the northern section specializing in leather boots and leather goods. Today, it no longer has fur stalls and has transformed into an artistic street in Yangzhou: you can browse for old books at Biancheng Bookstore, explore unique creative shops like Fushengji, or sit and relax in the courtyards and terraces of cafes. The wall painting with the word "Yangzhou" on the street is a popular photo spot. Crouching down to frame the shot makes it easier to capture the vibe. The street is paved with granite, and both sides are lined with low, old-style residences. Compared to the nearby Dongguan Street, it is less noisy and has more of a relaxed local vibe.Yangzhou · 22.9km from Zhenjiang

Xijindu's ancient street starts uphill from Changjiang Road, with tire tracks in the middle of the stone-paved road. The brick and stone houses are old and worn, and the steps are quite steep. The Zhaoguan Stone Pagoda stands in the middle of the road, and you can pass underneath it. From the hilltop, you can see the dock and the Yangtze River; at night, the river reflects the lights. There are some old shops on both sides selling pot-lid noodles and braised pork; you can sit down and have a bowl when you're tired from walking. It's less crowded than Shantang Street, but still lively on weekends.

The Yangzhou Grand Canal Three Bends Scenic Area, situated on the banks of the ancient Grand Canal, is an extension of the Grand Canal near the Slender West Lake. Originally a series of sharp bends in the canal, it has been cleverly transformed, turning the engineering marvel of "three bends equaling one dam" into an ecological and cultural landscape. From its vantage point, one can view the iconic China Grand Canal Museum, with the Lingbo Bridge and Silhouette Bridge arching across the water like rainbows. Together with the wetland boardwalk and birdwatching huts, they form a beautiful picture of urban-canal coexistence, blending the ancient and modern, making it a model for showcasing the ecological civilization of the Grand Canal and the charm of Yangzhou's cultural tourism. Admission is free.

Zhenjiang Museum is a national first-class museum. The former British Consulate in Zhenjiang, located within the museum grounds, is a national key cultural relics protection unit. The museum is particularly famous for its collection of silver artifacts unearthed from the Tang Dynasty Dingmao Bridge site. The current "Master's Imprint" print exhibition is also excellent and worth seeing.

The entertainment value was decent, but the lighting along the way seemed rather unremarkable, somewhat detracting from the ticket price. However, it's true that the actors worked very hard, considering the heat, the costumes, and the lighting – adding insult to injury. Thumbs up to these hardworking actors!

Dongguan Street in Yangzhou is one of the city's most representative historical streets, stretching approximately 1122 meters. It begins at Dongguan Ancient Ferry in the east and ends at Guoqing Road in the west, traversing the core area of Yangzhou's Ming and Qing dynasty city. Originally built in the Tang dynasty, it became a main thoroughfare in the Song dynasty and flourished during the Ming and Qing dynasties due to the influx of salt merchants, earning it the reputation of being a microcosm of the "Number One Commercial Port in Southeast China." The street retains its "chessboard" layout from the Ming and Qing dynasties, with cobblestone paving, blue brick and gray tile roofs, and shops interspersed with residences. In 2010, it was jointly awarded the title of "One of China's Top Ten Historical and Cultural Streets" by the Ministry of Culture and the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, and in 2013, it was upgraded to a national AAAA-level tourist attraction. Dongmen Ruins Square (East Gate of the Song Dynasty City): The earliest discovered double-barbican structure in China, with walls overlapping from the Tang, Song, Ming, and Qing dynasties. A restored Dongguan gate tower, built according to the *Yingzao Fashi* (Building Standards), stands atop the wall, offering panoramic views of the ancient Grand Canal and Dongguan Ancient Ferry. Historical relics of Dongguan are displayed free of charge inside the gate tower. Ge Garden (one of the four famous gardens): The former residence of Huang Zhijun, a salt merchant during the Qing Dynasty, renowned for its bamboo, rocks, and seasonal artificial mountains. A side gate is located in the middle section of Dongguan Street, where tickets can be purchased for entry. Yi Garden, Jienan Study, Hu Garden, and Hua Garden: A series of interconnected salt merchant residences, featuring brick-carved gate towers and Hui-style firewalls. A combined ticket for 45 yuan allows in-depth visits to any six smaller attractions. Dongguan Ancient Ferry & Canal Night View: One of the oldest sections of the ancient canal. After dusk, the water is illuminated by lights, and you can take a painted boat for a night cruise at the dock. A 28-meter bronze sculpture, "The Grand Canal Through the Ages," stands on the bank. Intangible Cultural Heritage Mini-Theater: Encounter Yangzhou storytelling, Yangzhou opera, and guqin performances at any time on the streets. Puppet shows are added on holidays, allowing you to experience the dual facets of Yangzhou: a "World City of Gastronomy" and a "Hometown of Folk Arts." Dongguan Street is the "living room of Yangzhou Ancient City". You can see the canal, salt merchants, gardens, folk arts and morning tea in one street. It is suitable for leisurely strolling and eating, and feel the urban life and thousand-year cultural heritage of the famous city of Huaizuo.

The two characters "Zhaoguan" are engraved on the door openings. The pagoda base is a four-layer "Ya"-shaped Xumi pedestal, with an upturned lotus-shaped pedestal on top, supported by a bowl-shaped pagoda belly, a "Ya"-shaped pagoda neck, thirteen heavens, a round treasure cover and a pagoda top. Pi Shi Street, an ancient street in Yangzhou, is filled with the vibrant atmosphere of everyday life and a touch of art, making it a truly captivating place. Walking along Pi Shi Street early in the morning, the cobblestone pavement was scrubbed clean by rain. Most of the shops along the street remained closed, with only a few breakfast stalls lighting up early. Steaming steamed buns and fragrant soy milk brought this ancient street to life. I walked into a quaint little shop filled with a variety of handicrafts: exquisite embroidery, quaint wood carvings, and small stone-carved objects, each bearing the ingenuity and meticulous care of the artisans. Continuing on, I found myself surrounded by cafes one after another. Sunlight filtered through the glass windows, filtering through the wooden tables and chairs, creating a relaxed and cozy atmosphere. I ordered a latte and sat by the window, watching the people passing by. Some tourists, cameras strapped to their shoulders, busily captured the beauty of the ancient street; others, elderly people, sat on benches, leisurely chatting and basking in the sun, their faces beaming with contentment. Pishi Street offers not only delicious food and art, but also a unique charm. Here, there's no hustle and bustle of traffic, only tranquility and comfort. It's like an ancient painting, waiting to be savored.
