Walking along the bluestone streets, you can feel the lingering aroma of time. 123 courtyards are arranged in a staggered pattern, with wood, brick, and stone carvings tucked into door lintels and window frames, each one so exquisitely detailed it's tempting to gaze at for hours. The guardhouse and Biyang Fort still retain their traditional defensive appearance, giving me an inexplicable sense of security. Resting under the old locust tree at the entrance, I heard from the villagers that this was once a village where the Dang and Jia clans prospered through commerce.
