The University of Alcala[1] was approved by King Sancho IV in 1293 to use the city of Alcala as a place of study. But the University of Alcala was really founded in 1499, and its founder was Spanish regent and Cardinal Cisnero. The university blended the best traditional education models of Paris and Sierra Manga at the time with more innovative models such as Bologna and Louvin. After its establishment, it played a pioneering role in the European Renaissance and Spanish humanist ideas. Cardinal Cisnero hopes it will serve as a melting pot, not only for the church reforming clergy but also for the Spanish royal family to deliver the talented people they desperately need. The success of this institution of higher learning attracted nobles to the higher education of Arca, which was a major driving force behind Spain's golden age. During the 16th and 17th centuries, the University of Arca developed into a great academic research center of excellence. Many well-known scholars have studied or taught in the classroom here.
