Bali Off-the-Beaten-Path Experience | Stroll through the rainforest and share the sunrise with dolphins
Bali offers a wealth of travel experiences, and here are a few activities that are less crowded, offer great experiences, and feature beautiful and interesting scenery 🥰
🐬 Dolphin Chasing Lovina Dolphin Tour
Recommended Index: 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Effort Index: 👍🏻👍🏻
Near Lovina Beach in the northern part of Bali, large groups of dolphins appear every morning, making the success rate of dolphin chasing here very high. With good weather, you can even see dolphins leaping out of the sea against the golden-orange dawn.
The journey from Ubud to Lovina takes about 2 hours, and you need to set out to sea before sunrise, so you have to leave the hotel at 3 a.m. If that seems too strenuous, you can choose to stay near the northern beaches the day before.
Going out to sea requires chartering a local spider boat, which costs 600k Indonesian Rupiah (~¥300) for about 2 hours at sea, and can be booked locally.
🌱 Rainforest Trekking Twin Lake Trekking
Recommended Index: 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Effort Index: 👍🏻👍🏻
The Bali Twin Lakes is a destination less visited by Chinese tourists. There is a well-preserved rainforest around the Twin Lakes, which is a formal natural scenic area. You can take a guided walk in the rainforest and row a boat on the lake to see temples.
The paths in the rainforest are not strenuous, with no steep slopes, but it's easy to get lost without a guide. The guide will also introduce various local vegetation along the way, or pick some interesting fruits for you to see, making it a fascinating immersive experience, perfect for families with children or tourists like us who are looking for relaxing, enjoyable, and unique local activities.
There are two routes, one around the Twin Lakes and one around a Single Lake. We chose the 2-3km route around the Single Lake, which includes strolling and boating, and takes about an hour and a half. The cost of the ticket and guide is 250k Indonesian Rupiah (~¥125) per person, with only English-speaking guides available.
🌳 Bayan Ancient Tree

Effort Index: 👍🏻
Many places in Bali are very spiritual and full of natural energy, and this huge ancient tree is especially so. The tree is 6 to 700 years old and is located in a small village not far from Ubud. It has recently become popular online, and when we visited, there was a continuous stream of visitors.
The most amazing part is the tree's complex root system, which is taller than a person, and you can climb up and down it, with a different appearance from every angle. Up close, its branches and roots somewhat resemble the human body, and the bark even has a satin-like sheen.
It's hard to imagine that such a vibrant tree has existed since the Ming Dynasty and still provides shelter and nourishment to birds, insects, and ants as a protector. When we visited, it was about to rain, and against the lead-gray sky, the ancient tree had a poetic rhythm and tranquility.
Rowena Beach is a famous place to go out to sea to enjoy dolphins. If we don’t choose to see dolphins, you can enjoy the sunset here. It’s also quite beautiful, and there are not many people on the beach.
Rowena is a good place for a holiday, pack a local crab boat on the beach in the morning. Go out to watch the sunrise, fly at sea with dolphins, and then snorkel to see small fish and corals. We only stayed for one night, it was really not enough. Many foreigners live for a week or even a month, super envious of them. Rowena's hotel is very cost-effective, and you can find a villa for a few hundred yuan. Go next time.
Watching the sunrise rising rapidly from the sea level, the sea of dolphins in groups constantly jumping out of the sea, hundreds of crab boats looking for these spirits together, the scene is very shocking. There are more fish snorkeling here than Lembongan Island, a very satisfying trip!
Very good, very unforgettable experience. And this price is not said, it is recommended to charter a car in advance.
Stunning sunrise and saw some dolphins after we got out into the ocean on our boat. A very eye opening experience. Definitely worth a visit.
Rowana is far from Kuta. The main thing to come here is to go out to sea in the morning to find dolphins. It's a great experience. Here I share my travel strategy: Starting from the south, Xiangcave, Kawei Mountain, Ubu Royal Palace, Ubu stays one night a day, the next day Shengquan Temple, Beijing Damani Volcano, and at night in Roweina, I suggest that the hotel sunrise, the swimming pool is behind the sea, the pool water is still warm, good service attitude, good scenery, the third day out to see the dolphins behind the hotel. On the third morning, after seeing the dolphins, I walked south all the way through Baidu Library and Forest Park. All the way beautiful, all the way happy, happy and full.
The beach in LOVINA is blue. There are no large numbers of tourists here, not even a few people can see. Huge tracts of deserted beaches... Invincible sunset and clear starry sky. Because it is located in the north of Bali (airports and most high-end hotels, regular attractions are in the south), the distance (more than three hours by car) most people only have the impression of Rovina, which is black sand beach and dolphins. In fact, the Black Sand Beach is due to nearby volcanoes and Singaraja, the largest city in northern Bali, where the Bali government plans to build a second airport (though construction is said to have not started for several years). There are waterfalls, volcanoes, corals to snorkel, and a few small museums to take pictures. Every sunset and Ocean View, the night sky milkway, cheap prices, simple folkways, parking everywhere, so I can't help but fantasize that the next time I don't have a job, I must come and live well for a week.
I got up at two o'clock in the morning and slept for four hours, so tired. I have to praise the hotel again, because I know that I will go out to Rowena at three o'clock today, I can't order breakfast. When I finished packing, the waiter had two boxes of take-out breakfast standing at the door waiting for me! What a good hotel! There are eggs, milk, bread, pure water, fruit and so on. . . Going out at three o'clock, the driver is also waiting for me at the door. The driver is called yoga, this is my favorite driver in Bali! No Chinese, people are particularly good! He was very talkative, he told us that he once gave Jackie a day as a driver, excited him, also went to Rowena to see dolphins, took him to polo to buy clothes, and asked us if polo is famous in China. However, I later learned that only three polo stores are authentic, and the other small shops that are everywhere are all counterfeit. . . I bought fake goods for my parents. I also heard from the driver who sent us away later. There is a super big store in Jimbaran. It is authentic. The driver is still very proud to tell us that he met Yuan Dawei and showed us the photos, because 320 happened to be Wu Qilong Liu Shishi's big marriage. Collect! Say far away again! Okay, starting from Ubud at three o'clock, the whole journey except for a short chat, we have been sleeping, and because it is all mountain roads, I was successfully dumped a little motion sickness! So excited, canceled the deep dive of Turanben on March 19, and later regretted my gut! Because later I learned that Turanben was really beautiful, except for the World War II shipwreck, the scenery under the sea, coral is not comparable to other seas, I was in tears! We had to turn back! At about half past five, we arrived at our destination, there were not many people on the shore, and we waited together. The driver said that the sunset at Rowena was not worse than Jimbaran, and it was particularly beautiful! In a moment, a boatman came to call us and we followed him to his spider boat. After the boatman was well, we boarded the ship! Then we kept wandering on the sea, looking for the trace of dolphins. Finally, we saw it! But because of my limited photography skills, it was not bad to catch two (❁ ◡ `❁)*✲゚* so cute, right! Almost two hours later, we asked the boatman to go back, the boatman asked us if we wanted to snorkel, because we were afraid that the sea was too cold in the morning, and then we were going to Lembongan Island to snorkel, so we didn't go. This makes me regret it again! I heard that Rowena's snorkeling is also very beautiful, Lembongan Island can not be compared, after my own experiment, Lembongan Island snorkeling is really not good! The water flow is too fast, everyone must hold the floating circle, the underwater is beautiful, but there is no way to enjoy it! So Rowena's snorkeling, Turan's deep dive, courageous and time-consuming, try to go! Hey, I regret it!
