From Shantou to Nan'ao County, you have to pass through a long sea-crossing bridge, which is Nan'ao Bridge. It is a sea-crossing channel connecting Chenghai District and Nan'ao County in Shantou City, Guangdong Province, China. It is located above the waters of Houjiang Bay and is part of the northeastern channel of Shantou City. It is also the first sea-crossing bridge in Guangdong Province. Nan'ao Bridge starts from Laiwu Tourist Resort in Chenghai District, Shantou City, Guangdong Province, crosses the strait of Houjiang Bay, passes through Fengyu Island, and ends at Changshanwei on Nan'ao Island, connecting to Nan'ao Ring Island Road at Pingjiao Port. On January 1, 2015, Nan'ao Bridge was opened for trial operation. The whole bridge is 9.342 kilometers long. The bridge deck is a two-way two-lane secondary road with a speed limit of 80 kilometers per hour. Not far from the right hand side after getting off the bridge on Nan'ao Island is the Departure Plaza, and next to it is the beautiful all-red Changshanwei Lighthouse. Changshanwei Lighthouse is also called Departure Lighthouse. It is located at the westernmost point of Nan'ao Island. During the period of dense navigation, it was already a large-scale ferry terminal. The lighthouse is a high tower-shaped building with lighting equipment installed on the top of the tower, which is easy for ships to distinguish. It is generally one of the highest points of the port. Nan'ao Island Departure Plaza is a comprehensive facility located at Changshanwei in the western part of Nan'ao Island. It is part of the Nan'ao Bridge construction project. The functions of this plaza include ecological parking lot, leisure plaza, seaside sightseeing promenade and commercial street. It is recommended to stay on the island for one day. If you encounter a major holiday, please leave the island before 17:00, otherwise the Nan'ao Bridge will be severely congested.

But honestly, it's not crowded after entering the island, the island is quite large. 2⃣️Join a local tour, you can go island hopping to Qin Peng Island to catch sea urchins and snorkel. The water quality there is more than twice as good, and the tour guide/instructor will also introduce you to various fish species during snorkeling.
