Obviously, Pu'er is known for its famous tea and the tea-growing areas around it. Therefore, any visit to the city wouldn't be complete without a stop here at the Pu'er Tea Museum. We wanted to learn more about this important commodity, so this museum provided us with the answers. We learned about the various local ethnic groups and their relationships with tea, the history of the local area and the Tea Horse Road and also about the process of making the teas. We went here in the morning and admission was free. The staff were also very nice and polite. Getting here is easy by taxi or private car, although it was basically next to our hotel anyway. It's definitely best to come here and learn about the history before visiting a plantation or the Tea Horse Road, as it definitely adds a perspective on everything and enbables you to better understand everything. Deer Valley is the lowest point of interest in the China Puer Tea Expo Garden, and it is also a place specially arranged for children. There are more than 30 sika deer raised here, and the park also has a deer house area and a feeding free-range area, where children can interact closely with fawns. The sika deer is a mammal of the deer family in the order Artiodactyla, also known as the spotted deer. Its fur is chestnut red in summer with many white spots resembling plum blossoms, thin fur without fluff. In winter, the fur turns smoky brown, the white spots are not significant, with fluff, thick fur, and the neck has a mane. Males grow antlers from the second year, with one more tine added each year, stopping at four tines after the age of five. They have large erect ears, a thin and long neck, slender limbs, and a brown metatarsal gland below the ankle joint on the outside of the hind limbs. Named after the plum blossom-like white spots present in summer, sika deer have an average lifespan of about 20 years. Sika deer are distributed along the Pacific coast of Japan and Russia, in the Lesser Khingan Mountains and Changbai Mountain area of Northeast China, as well as mountainous areas in East and South China.
