The Brotherhood was a contemporaneous building with the Catholic monarchs, and marriage allowed the merger of Castile and Aragon kingdoms, which was born in the late 15th century. The building, once home to the prison and the Holy Brotherhood’s headquarters, which was designed to protect residents from banditry, still retains the cells, courtyards and chambers of the past.
