Birchover and Stanton Moor

Easy parking and a short walk through the trees leads you out onto some beautiful heather moorland with springy turf and mostly dry easy walking. Along the way lots of interesting old small secretive quarries, standing stones, towers and trig points. Suspect the bilberries would be out in force at other times in the year so worth a return. We did a 3 or 4 mile circular walk and saw lots of useful information boards on the way. The small oak trees are really pretty and Stanley and Fiona loved climbing into the lower branches.
