Photos of Beomeosa

Beomeosa is located at the foot of Jinjing Mountain in the north of Busan. It was built at the end of the 7th century and is the main center of Zen Buddhism. There are many historical sites in Beomyusa Temple, among which the Daeungjeon Hall and the three-story stone pagoda have been listed as national treasures of Korea. Beomyusa Temple was originally a temple with 36 large-scale buildings, but unfortunately it was destroyed during the Imjin Japanese Rebellion. Rebuilt in 1717, the Daeungjeon Hall is very delicate and gorgeous, which can be called the essence of the architecture of the Joseon Dynasty. The temple still retains 7 halls, 2 attics, 3 giant gates, 11 training nunneries and the early three-story stone pagoda and many other historical sites. When you enter the Fanyu Temple with the Yizhumen, the first thing that catches your eye is the Yizhumen. This kind of layout is very meaningful. Among the mountain garam in Korea, one must see the Iljumun, and its stone base is particularly rare. The lacquer-dyed wooden part of the gorgeous Dancheong (traditional Korean painting) contrasts sharply with the stone base made of the majestic stone pillars, which is also the eye-catching feature of Iljummun. The Daxiong Hall and the three-story stone pagoda go up along the stone steps, and the middle area of the temple is where the Daxiong Hall is located. Opposite and on the right side of Daeungjeon Hall is a three-story stone pagoda. It was built on a double-deck base and is a typical stone pagoda style in the late Unified Silla period. It is also designated as Treasure No. 250 as an Important Cultural Property. Presumably, it was built around the 9th century and has a long history. After passing through the Yizhumen Gate in the quiet temple, the Tianwang Gate and the Fuji Gate are next. There are many conifers such as cypresses and pine trees, and bamboo forests in Fanyu Temple, showing a state of tranquility and tranquility. In Fanyu Temple, there are often many believers who come to worship, and every time they pass through a gate, they will worship devoutly, which is quite sacred.
