Truth be told, a trip to the South Caucasus will truly last you a lifetime! Four or five Georgian characteristic towns and mountain attractions, combining romantic arts and crafts, ancient religious buildings, magnificent scenery and exotic atmosphere, completely subvert the previous imagination of tourism✨ This trip will shuttle through Signagi, Kutaisi, Kazbegi, Gudori, Ananuri and several locations. Every stop is super healing, not only great to take pictures, but also lots of stories and surprises for you to discover! Attraction recommendations: 📍Signage Bodbe Convent When you visit Signage, the “City of Love,” you can’t miss the Bodbe Convent! The monastery is located on a mountainside surrounded by mountains, the environment is tranquil with an artistic feel, the architecture and gardens are very chill. The monastery is open from 10:00-18:00 year-round, and it is recommended to go early, there are not so many people in the morning, which is perfect for slowly feeling this spiritual sanctuary. If the weather is nice you can also see the plains of the Alazani Valley in the distance, which is really beautiful📸. Address: JW4M+GG9, Sighnaghi-St. Nino Monastery, Sighnaghi, Georgia 📍Kutaisi Holy Annunciation temple For a Georgian-style religious culture, don’t miss Holy Annunciation temple in the center of Kutaisi. It is the larger church in the area, the interior colors are very healing and heavy historical feel, the carvings and stained glass are surprisingly beautiful! Open year-round from 10:00-17:00, Saturday 9:00-17:00, Monday to Friday extended until 18:00. Address: 7 Varlamishvili Street, Kutaisi, Georgia 📍Gergeti Okhareshi St. George Church, Kazbeji If you love hiking scenery, Gergeti Okhareshi St. George Church is a must-visit mountain church! Built on a hillside, the church looks like a fairytale world, surrounded by spectacular Caucasus mountains all around, and feels worldly independent. It is recommended to bring a jacket to the church, the weather is sometimes cold and sometimes hot, and the mountain road is winding and steep, remember to wear good shoes (personally, the highlands is really not a joke 🤣). Address: გერგეტის სამება, Gergeti, Georgia 📍Gudori Observation Deck This observation deck completely overlooks the magnificent scenery of the Caucasus Mountains, which is perfect for a tiring walk and a beautiful card with friends. Open all day long, no problem if you want to watch the sunset and morning light. The starry sky at night is great, suitable for you who like to take pictures and chill. Address: ს3 Georgia 📍Monument to Russian Friendship In addition to the photo-friendly mural architecture, you can also see the entire valley ahead and incomparably open, the sunset and dusk are extremely beautiful! And it’s free, open all day, and don’t be afraid to miss any weather. Transportation can be driven or join day tour, remember to bring plenty of water snacks, do not miss every piece of mountain and sky. Address: CFVQ+5J, Ganisi, Georgia 📍Ananuri-Ananuri Villa Ananuri is a popular secret place in the north, with medieval feel castle villas and lakes, walking into it feels like entering a Western fairy tale world. You can visit the castle tower, overlooking the lake view, it is recommended to reserve some time, slowly play and take pictures and hea an afternoon. There are also specialty local restaurants nearby where you can try traditional grilled chicken or Khinkali. Itinerary Tips: · Mountain temperature difference is large, it is recommended to bring more jackets, windbreaker, in the Caucasus mountains outdoor activities to wear hiking shoes. · Small towns such as Signage and Ananuri, with fewer breakfast options, it is recommended to eat in the morning of Kutaisi city center or buy some snacks to prepare. · The attractions are not far but the road is circuitous, it is recommended to book a local private car or join tour in advance will be much more convenient. Transportation Guide: Driving between major stations is the most flexible, the attractions are mostly suburban, and public transportation is not dense. If you are afraid of getting lost, you can ask a local driver for a day trip. Schedules at the scenic spots may change. It is recommended to check the trip.com app timetable and route before taking the bus. Food recommendations: There are local family shops in the southwestern city of Kutai that recommend “Sisters” for traditional eggplant and walnut rolls, salads and homemade soups for about GEL15-30/person, which is both cheap and filling.
