The Nakayama Ancient Road is one of the five major transportation routes developed in Japan during the Edo period. Connecting Nihonbashi in Edo (now Tokyo) and Sanjo Street in Kyoto. This ancient road is also called "Nakasendo", "Nakasendo", "Kiso Street", and "Kuzo Road". The total length is 507.7 km, spanning Tokyo, Saitama Prefecture, Gunma Prefecture, Nagano Prefecture, Gifu Prefecture, Shiga Prefecture and Kyoto Prefecture. There are 67 sleeping quarters (called inns in Chinese) in the middle. Among them, Naarai-juku, Tsumago-juku, Magome-juku, Akei-juku, and Kusatsu-juku are the most popular inns. I went to Narai-juku a few years ago, and this time I specially came to Magome-juku. Although the weather was unfavorable and it was raining, it did not affect the interest in traveling. Walking on the ancient streets felt like returning to the distant ancient times. Here are six photos for your reference.”
行摄一路:“Tsumago-juku is located in Kiso County, Nagano Prefecture, central Japan. It is one of the 69 post stations on the Nakasendo Road, and is ranked 42nd from Edo (Tokyo). The Nakasendo Road is a road connecting Edo and Kyoto, and the so-called "post stations" are the post stations along the way. Tsumago-juku was once a transportation hub and was bustling, but it gradually declined due to the construction of railways in the Meiji period. In the Showa period, Japan launched a movement to protect ancient buildings, and Tsumago-juku was fortunately preserved. Today, walking in the post station, you will feel like you have returned to the Edo period.”
暁暁0329:“You can take a boat trip, and the boat ride area has been newly renovated! Adults are 1500 yen. The scenery around in October is average! The scenery is more beautiful at the end of November and when the cherry blossoms are in bloom”
Princesstt:“When we came to Ena Gorge, there was almost no one there. It is somewhat similar to the scenery along the Tiger Leaping Gorge in China. The best view is from the observation deck. The old man in the grocery store opposite is a disaster relief hero.”
星野弥生:“It is an ancient site, which cannot be compared with those in China, but it still has a lot of retro atmosphere. It feels boring and foreigners are not interested.”
星野弥生:“This Japanese restaurant is relatively close to the station, so there are quite a lot of customers coming and going. However, the quality of the food is pretty average. It’s not expensive anyway, so you can just eat there casually.”
星野弥生:“The hotpot in this restaurant is quite Chinese in style. They even provide mahjong condiments as dipping sauces. There are beef, chicken and fish options, which is pretty good.”
