Altiplano, South America 🇧🇴🇵🇪🏔️ The Altiplano is one of the most extraordinary high-altitude landscapes on Earth—a vast plateau stretching across the Andes of Bolivia, Peru, Chile, and Argentina. Much of the region lies more than 3,500 meters above sea level, creating a landscape that feels almost otherworldly. Here, endless golden plains meet snow-covered volcanoes, turquoise lagoons, dramatic mountains, and ancient villages. The famous Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia, the world’s largest salt flat, is one of the Altiplano’s most iconic sights. Nearby, colorful lagoons such as Laguna Colorada are surrounded by flamingos and volcanic landscapes. Lake Titicaca, sitting at around 3,812 meters, is another remarkable part of the region. The combination of thin mountain air, intense sunlight, huge skies, and remote landscapes gives the Altiplano a truly surreal atmosphere.
