The old Munich City Hall is located on the east side of Maria Square in downtown Munich. It was the Munich City Hall before 1874. It is now used by representatives of the Munich City Council. Munich's old city hall was first documented in 1310. It is a Gothic style building. The famous hall was built in 1392-1394. The city gate used to be a spire. From 1470 to 1480, the old city hall was redesigned as a late Gothic style, and its elevation was changed during the Renaissance. From 1861 to 1864, it was rebuilt as a new Gothic style. The building was badly damaged during World War II and its spire was not rebuilt until 1971-1974. Very beautiful building, bright color, really unlike a building with such a long history.
