After 11 years of preparation, and hailed as one of Europe’s largest cultural regeneration projects with a budget of £437 million, the Museum of London has finally shared exciting news: its newly built home in Smithfield, London will officially open to the public on November 28, 2026! 🔧 From derelict meat market to a leading cultural landmark Founded in 1976, the Museum of London has long been dedicated to telling the city’s sweeping story from prehistory to today. In 2016, the museum announced it would move to the former market halls in Smithfield. The new museum has been designed by leading teams Stanton Williams, Asif Khan, and Julian Harrap Architects, who undertook a thorough transformation of the Victorian-era meat market that opened in 1883, closed in the 1990s, and lay derelict for more than 30 years. Following meticulous restoration, the building has been ranked among the top 1% of the world’s more sustainable buildings. The major redevelopment was funded through a mix of public and private support, with key backers including Bloomberg Philanthropies, the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the Goldsmiths’ Company Charity, and the Linbury Trust. ✨ Three connected spaces for an immersive London story The Museum of London holds up to 7 million objects. The new museum is cleverly organized into 3 interconnected grand spaces that bring London’s past, present, and future to life: Real Time: At the entrance, a giant screen will use extensive city data to tell dynamic, real-time stories about London and Londoners. Banksy’s much-anticipated new work "Piranhas" will also be a headline exhibit here. Our Time: This central event space features 13 large-scale installations tied closely to the city’s collective memory, including the opulent Lord Mayor’s golden coach and the classic London landmark Syd’s Coffee Stall. Past Time: Along a long gallery, discover London’s chronological story from prehistory to today. Highlights include treasured personal items from notable Londoners: the legendary bass used by The Clash’s Paul Simonon, Charles Dickens’s chair, and rare artifacts from the London 2012 Olympic Games. Future expansion plans: The adjacent Poultry Market will open in 2028, adding 2 temporary exhibition spaces, 1 education center, and 1 collections store to further enrich the visitor experience. 👥 A new social space for Londoners Beyond static displays, the museum has designed a vibrant social hub within Our Time: A weekly afternoon tea and late-night DJ sets will be hosted. Every month, there will be a gala dinner and a lively indoor party, making the museum a cultural living room for the city. 🍽️ First major special exhibition preview From November 2026 to August 2027, the new museum will present "Taste of London," a special exhibition sponsored by Sainsbury’s, showcasing the city’s rich, diverse, and long-standing food culture. 💡 Visitor information Location: Museum of London New Home (in Smithfield, London). Opening date: November 28, 2026. Admission: Free entry.

September–November is when London feels the gentlest and most painterly. Hyde Park is carpeted with golden leaves in fall, with shimmering lakes and unhurried swans creating scenes that look straight out of a British drama. ✨ highlights and walking route Fall must-visit sights: Plane trees and maples along the bridleway and tree-lined avenues turn a caramel hue, with dappled sunlight like a painted scroll. The Serpentine mirrors the vivid colors on the shore while swans glide by; the fountains of the Italian Gardens pair beautifully with autumn leaves; the Diana Memorial Fountain shimmers with golden ripples, composing a tranquil scene. 60–90-minute suggested route: Enter via the Lancaster Gate entrance and circle the Italian Gardens first. Stroll west along the south bank of the Serpentine. Pass the Diana Memorial Fountain to reach the most vibrant fall colors at the north end of The Long Water. Finally, head east through woodland paths and exit at Hyde Park Corner or Marble Arch. 💡 photo tips and what to avoid Best time to visit: Early mornings or weekday afternoons from September to November are less crowded, and the soft light is ideal for photos. The main park is free and requires no reservation. Transportation and outfit: We recommend entering directly from Lancaster Gate station into the park’s northeast corner. Go for a British look with a trench coat/camel coat + plaid scarf + Doc Martens, plus a bright beret. Avoid these pitfalls: Nearby Kensington Palace is a separate paid attraction and is not accessible via the park’s free entry. Choose official rental points inside the park; roadside private rentals are unlicensed. Crowds gather at Speakers' Corner on weekends, so keep an eye on your belongings.

Big Ben stands at the north end of the Palace of Westminster in London. The name refers to the Great Bell inside the tower and is also commonly used for the entire Elizabeth Tower. It has kept time since 1859 and is the largest four-faced chiming clock in the world. The tower is 96m tall, and its Gothic Revival exterior was designed by Augustus Pugin as part of Charles Barry’s reconstruction of the Palace of Westminster. To go inside, you must join a guided tour and climb 334 steps to the top. Tours must be booked in advance. At the top, you can examine the intricate clock mechanism up close and take in panoramic views of London from above—a perspective you don’t get every day.
