Tortoise Back Rock

In honor of the important role of the small train in the history of wood production in the forest area, the Aershan Forestry Bureau specially reserved a small train for visitors to visit. The forest train is also named Aershan. The turtleback rock is a crusty lava flow. The lava shell of the volcano erupts, which forms a different mesh fracture in different directions due to cooling contraction, and then the lava flow fills the fracture multiple times, which finally makes the flat lava flow irregularly arranged polygon. Because this polygonal shape is like the back of the turtle, so called "lava back structure", this geological structure is rare in China. Aershan volcano turtle back structure has at least three lava flow units.

Located in Aershan Forest Park, Inner Mongolia, the turtle back rock is one of the eight major scenic spots in the entire scenic spot. The turtle back rock is not very big, and the ground rock cracked into a piece in a flat ground like a large square, like the turtle back.

The turtle back rock is located on the roadside of the Xing'an Service Area of Aershan Forest Park. It is a crusty lava flow that is named after the turtle back. This structure has a certain time interval and the formation conditions are relatively harsh, so it is rare.

龟背岩是由龟背状熔岩构造，属结壳状熔岩流，是喷发的熔岩流表壳由于冷却收缩作用而形成不同方向的裂隙，呈网状，后期又有多期熔岩流沿裂隙充填，形成了相互交切，最终使平整的熔岩流表面呈不规则排列的多边形，形似龟背，所以叫“熔岩龟背构造”，这种地质构造在我国也是不多见的，火山专家称之火山中的“国宝”。阿尔山石塘的龟背构造至少有三个熔岩流单元存在。主要特征是平行层理和交错层理。[1]
