The church of Santa Maria Maggiore

The magnificent Coleoni chapel is connected to the Great Virgin Mary Church. The Gothic pointed canopy is easily identified. The two pairs of stone lions who have guarded the church for centuries look mottled and heavy. The church was built in 1137 and was not completed until the 15th century. It is said that the Black Death spread throughout Europe, and Bergamo was not spared. Locals prayed to the Virgin Mary day by day, hoping to save the disaster, and promised to build a larger church if they escaped the Black Death. Don't underestimate the gray exterior wall that looks old, but it glows with medieval light. If you look closer, you will find that the walls still have the original preserved mural layers. In the faintest, you can see that they are still so vivid after the wind erosion. The Roman exterior is calm and restrained, but the interior is baroque, rich and gorgeous, and it is simply blind. The beautiful murals, sculptures and tapestries on the walls are all famous and not to be missed.

The appearance is not eye-catching, the interior is so gorgeous that it is much more gorgeous than the main sitting church opposite. Both churches do not charge tickets. I went shopping in the winter night. There were no two people inside. I felt that the whole church was contracted by me.
