National Theatre

A beautiful national theatre. There are mainly Hungarian performances, however you could get the great atmosphere, even if you don't understand the language itself. :)

This is the main theatre of Budapest and it's housed in an absolutely incredible building! Go and take a look at this alone. (It's also right by the Ludwig museum and opposite the Museum of Natural History). I didn't go inside but would recommend a visit to those interested in architecture, building regeneration and urban design. The park has a maze and a ramp up the conical building offers a good birds-eye view.

It is the main theatre of Budapest, and the largest institution of this type in Hungary. The idea of a national theater in the capital was originated around the eighteenth to the nineteenth century and was promoted by several major thinkers, such as Ferenc Kazinczy.
