I have returned from a brave journey to Tibet, and I'm here to help anyone I can
Do not trust online travel companions for Tibet! Here's some advice from my experience for those who are visiting Tibet for the first time.
‼️ Many online companions are actually travel scams! They trick you into booking a tour and then make excuses for not being able to go... I met my travel companions in a group, and since we met in person and played together, at least it was real.
You must bring 🧳
✅ Glucose and down jackets, so do not underestimate the weather in Tibet. Regardless of whether it's April, May, June, or July, have your down jacket ready.
✅ Personally, I think it's optional to bring ibuprofen. For minor altitude sickness headaches, you can take headache powder, but for severe cases, you can't rely on headache powder, you need to go to the hospital, so no ibuprofen.
You can bring: cold medicine, diarrhea treatment, gas relief, indigestion treatment, motion sickness pills.
✅ Bring a power bank, it's essential for going out every day, so it's best to bring two for alternating use. The same goes for hats, have two to switch between.
My expenses
‼️ I went during the off-season, and my expenses were around 7,000 yuan, including travel costs, photoshoots, accommodation, joining a tour group, food and drink, and souvenirs.
‼️ Souvenir suggestions
For personal consumption/gifting: yak jerky, milk flakes, butter tea, highland barley wine, sweet tea, Tibetan chicken, highland barley egg crisp, yak milk strips.
Local must-tries: yak yogurt, fresh milk, yak meat hotpot, Tibetan noodles, sweet tea, Nyingchi stone pot chicken, Tibetan pork, Tibetan chicken, milk residue buns, pickled vegetable noodle pieces, cold noodles.
Some points about attractions
1️⃣ Remember to book in advance for the Potala Palace! Otherwise, you can't get in!
2️⃣ Don't forget your ID card! Otherwise, you won't be able to go anywhere in Lhasa, and it would be as if you came to Lhasa for nothing... You'll have to get a temporary one, don't ask me how I know 😭
3️⃣ The post office in the sky is not far from the Potala Palace! Don't miss it, family. It's quite meaningful. You can visit it while going to the Potala Palace.
4️⃣ Namtso when it's frozen is also beautiful, Yamdrok Lake is beautiful, Mount Namcha Barwa is cool, and Mount Everest is cool, you must go! You must take lots and lots of photos! Take hundreds!
Points about joining a tour group
1️⃣ It's best to join a tour group for your first trip to Tibet! Tibet is a province, and if you want to go to Mount Everest, you must join a tour group, as self-driving is too far! Over six hundred kilometers could be terrible if you get altitude sickness.
2️⃣ Refuse shopping tours! Refuse low-price tours! Be careful not to be treated like a piglet.
3️⃣ Make sure you understand the itinerary when joining a tour group, the first thing to check in the contract is if there's anything wrong with the itinerary! The second thing is to check the accommodations and meals.
Conclusion
I was very afraid of altitude sickness for my first trip to Tibet, but once I was in Lhasa, I realized that altitude sickness wasn't as scary as I thought. Altitude sickness really varies from person to person, so everyone doesn't need to be too nervous about it.
The Namco scenic spot in April is still very beautiful, just half iced, half unwashed, half white, half blue, very beautiful, but the weather is also very cold, the wind is very strong, the scenic spot must take a sightseeing bus, the current ticket price is 145 tickets plus tickets, the scenery is beautiful, There are many Tibetan friends in the scenic area who let them buy instant noodles to feed the seagulls, or let them take pictures with the lambs and ride the yak. Many people surround you. The price of riding the yak is very high. Let’s bargain according to personal skills. The instant noodles are not bad. The seagulls will come to eat and can take very good photos. Also hugged the lamb, mainly because Tibetans are not easy, how much to contribute.
In April, I went to Namcuo Scenic Area, the ice and snow have not melted, so beautiful! Note that there is snow on the way to Namcuo, and you need to turn over a mouth that is nearly 5200 meters high above sea level. Friends who drive by car are careful and pay attention to high reaction.
The scenery of Namco is really lingering, very, very good, the only fly in the ointment is the height of 4711 meters, which makes people easy to walk too fast or walk too long to produce altitude sickness.
The scenery along the road is really beautiful. Master Ma's witty talk and punching place is very clear. He also helped us shoot various online red signboards and reminded us of the price of riding cattle and horses. Like 👍🏻
Namcuo, located in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China, is one of the highest-altitude lakes in the world. It is like a bright pearl set on the plateau, and it is interesting to see the surrounding snow-capped mountains, grasslands and blue sky, forming a beautiful picture. Standing on the shore of Lake Namcuo, you will be shocked by the beauty of your eyes. The lake is crystal clear and shows a charming blue. The lake is like a mirror, reflecting the blue and white clouds of the sky. The snowy mountains in the distance stand tall and the clouds are lingering, giving people a mysterious feeling. Here you will feel the beauty and wonder of nature, as if you are in a wonderland on earth. In addition to the beautiful natural landscape, Namcuo has a rich cultural heritage. It is one of the important holy sites of Tibetan Buddhism, with many temples and scriptures. Visitors can learn about Tibetan history and culture and folk customs and feel the unique charm of this land. Moreover, Namcuo is a great outdoor sports resort. Visitors can explore the secrets of nature in hiking, camping, photography and other activities. Here, you can feel the beauty and magic of nature, and you can experience the excitement and fun of outdoor sports.
Namcuo is super beautiful, with a sky lake of more than 4,000 meters above sea level. The sightseeing car has to be driven for a long time, and overall I think the price is worth it. The management is also very standardized, the visitor center is very well built, and there is a special oxygen inhalation area. In August, the lake is quite cold, the weather is cold and easy to reverse, go to play must be careful not to run and jump.
3.22 I went there. It’s so beautiful. The opposite is Nianqing Tanggula Mountain. It’s all snow and the lake is frozen. I drove with my friends all the way. It’s so beautiful that it’s suffocating. When I go to the place, I quickly give my parents a video. I really took pictures and I wanted to go.
