"Eye Reiyama" A temple where Buddhas protect the eyes

Iozan Yakuoin Ouzanji Temple, one of the three mountains in Enshu, is a temple of the Shingon sect founded by Gyoki Daitoku in the first year of Taiho (701). In praying for the peaceful life and the peace of all people, Gyoki Daedo was enshrined in Yakushi Nyorai, the principal image. The name Ouyama-ji comes from the fact that it was called "Aburayama" because oil was springing from this mountain in the past. In the first year of Tenpyo Shoho (749), when Emperor KOKEN suffered from eye disease, he was prayed for the healing of eye disease to Yakushi Nyorai, the principal image of Mt.

If you go up the stairs from the parking lot, you will find a magnificent mountain gate that does not look like a temple. This is the relocation of the Otemon gate of Kakegawa Castle, which was built in the early Edo period, in the Meiji era. If you go up the stairs on your right, you will find the worship gate, and beyond that you will find Hojo and Shoin. If you climb to your left, you will follow the natural approach called Tengudani and climb a fairly long staircase. On the way, there is a Ruri Falls, which is said to be the temple of the eye. When you climb the stairs, you will find the three-storied pagoda built in the early Edo period and the principal image ...
There is Hoshoden in the immediate vicinity of the parking lot, and it seems that it is mistaken for the main hall, but the main hall is located in the back of the stairs. I didn't have time, so I only visited Hoshoden, but it was a well-maintained temple. It was impressive that the wind chimes were cool in the precincts.

2 This is my first visit, but it's a small temple. After passing through the mountain gate and climbing the stone steps, you will visit the main shrine with a very heavy roof with a copper-blown roof. The black pine tree in front of the main shrine is planted nicely, and I like the building like this. On the way, a stone shop was working on the precincts and we chatted a little. I could hear the state of the temple.
