Goseong Unification Observatory

The 38th Line Observatory originates from the junction of the Han River in South Korea and the Imjin River originating in North Korea. The 38th Line Observatory can view North Korea from here. The observation deck on the 38th line is 140 meters above sea level. The observation deck is a five-story building on the ground. In addition, there is a unified prayer room, a prayer altar and a huge unified prayer drum with a diameter of 2 meters and a weight of 600 kg. The 38th line observatory, flying the Korean flag, is located at a height of 70 meters at the intersection of the demilitarized zone and the southern limit line. On a sunny day, you can see the wonderful view of Mount Kumgang in the north. On the observation deck, people first went to the large auditorium in the white building to watch the information film, and then, regardless of the frequent sea breeze, they eagerly watched the opposite mountain and the sea "38th line" - Songdo, where the military confrontation between the north and the south . From the coastline under the unified viewing platform, it is only 4 kilometers away from Songdo. Looking down, you can clearly see that in the azure blue bay, Songdo, which is small in size but not trivial in significance, lies peacefully in it. Although it is called an island, it actually looks like a reef connected to the coast. Like an old man, patiently listening to the slap of the waves, if you want to see the Nine Immortals Peak in the distance and the 5 small islands in the sea (together they are called Sea King Kong), you need to use a coin-operated telescope. Through a high-powered telescope, you can see the North Korean military base command post. The height was originally 356 meters. Due to the fierce competition between the two sides during the Korean War, the height was bombed 5 meters lower. Since 1994, the Korean government has opened the observation deck on the 38th line of Gaocheng in the form of a unified security tour. The number of people visiting is increasing year by year, and now more than 1.5 million domestic and foreign tourists come here every year. For Koreans, this is a place where some people miss their homeland, miss their relatives, and entrust their long-cherished wish for reunification. To this end, a huge white marble Maitreya Buddha statue was built here, and there are also landscapes such as the Advance Pagoda and the National Xiongfei Pagoda. Standing on the observation deck on the 38th line, turning around and looking at the hillside opposite South Korea, among the thick green vegetation, the word "unification" arranged in Korean is extremely clear, and it is particularly eye-catching under the sunlight.
