A Visit but Not a Long One
This is the big church in town and definitely in your view from the port and from your cruise ship. It has history and riches from the past and worth your visit, but not a long one.
I just stopped in here briefly as I was wondering around the city. The stone/tile work in front of the church is amazing. The inside is nice but not spectacular.
To understand more about Azorean islands history just go there and spend time meditating in this secular Jesuit retreat you will come out different even if like me being agnostic...

Beautiful church to visit
Beautiful church to see. The details are phenomenal! The church inside is cool in temperature and just gave me a very calming vibe.
A must

Active church
The church was damaged during the 1998 earthquake but has been restored. It is open for Masses throughout the week and weekends.
