Wenshu Bodhisattva ・ Puxian Bodhisattva の Shengまれ わり

    Original Text

It is enshrined between the stone steps of Kotokuji Temple in Tsumago-juku and Enmei Jizo-do. Kanzan Shutoku refers to the Tang Dynasty monk "Kanzan" and "Pick up". Kanzan is said to be the reincarnation of Manjuri Bosatsu and Fugen Bosatsu. This stone Buddha was discovered from the stone wall that collapsed in the 1984 earthquake. It is said to have been made during the Bunsei era by the Kazuhisa of Kotokuji Temple or by the Ishikiri craftsman. It seems that weathering is progressing, and the carved figure cannot be clearly seen.

It is the only stone Buddha in Japan that depicts two legendary poets in the Tang Dynasty. The one used for the stone wall collapsed in the earthquake and caught the eyes of people again, and the carving was a stone Buddha that gave a mysterious feeling, although it could not be seen without paying close attention.
