A bit of a mucky walk down a laneway to get to the abbey. But the abbey looks impressive standing on a walled island in the middle of a field (which was originally a lake but has drained over time).

First off do NOT bring your car down the lane to the Monument. The trees either side will scratch your car. You would also have to reverse back the lane or risk turning in a soft field. Wear old footw...

Wonderful place to go walking from Roscrea. Roman monastic site full of magic vibrations. Formerly It was an island in the middle if a Lake, now drained. We enjoyed the visit a lot .
