    Historical Temple

    I was attracted by the Cherry Blossom next to this temple. Also got ginkgo trees , especially the husband and wife gingko tress’s are standing side by side.

    It is located along National Highway 5 and is located in front of the city of Otaru when heading from Sapporo. It is a temple of the Soto sect built in 1857, and the oldest main hall in Otaru City is designated as a historic building in Otaru City, but the appearance does not feel much history. When I entered the precincts from the mountain gate, there were many Kannon Bodhisattvas and Jizo Bodhisattvas in addition to the bell tower and Kompira Hall. It seems that there is a huge wooden fish in the main hall, but I couldn't see it because the main hall was locked.

    According to the explanation board, it was founded by the 18th Kazuhisa of Koryuji Temple in Hakodate about 160 years ago in the Edo period, and it is said that the temple has the oldest temple main hall in the city as it was founded.
