Xietiao Building

Xie Tulou is located in Xuancheng District, built by the famous Southern Qi poet Xie Tu when he was appointed prefect of Xuancheng. Xie Yuezhao served as the prefect of Xuancheng during the reign of Emperor Jianwu of the Southern Qi Dynasty (494-496 AD). In the early Tang Dynasty, people in Xuancheng, in memory of Xie Tu, built a new first floor at the old site of "Gao Zhai". Because the building is located in the north of the county government, it was named "North Building", and because when the building was built, Jingting Mountain was already famous, and it is possible to climb the building. Overlooking Jingting Mountain, it is also called "North Watch Tower". In the Tang Dynasty, Li Bai came to Xuancheng many times, climbed this building to pay tribute and wrote poems to express his feelings. The poem "Dengxuancheng Xie Yubei Tower in Autumn" is very popular and has been sung through the ages. The poem says: "In the picturesque city of the river, the mountains look at the clear sky at night. The two waters sandwich the mirror, and the two bridges fall with rainbows. The people are cold and the orange pomelo, and the autumn is an old phoenix tree. Whoever reads the north upstairs, the wind is in love with Duke Xie." In order to spread the praises, the building is also called "Xie Gong Building" and "Xie Yu Building". Since then, pavilions such as Tiaofeng, Qingshu, Yingchun, Guanfeng, Shuangxi and Huaixie have been built around the building. Literati and celebrities of the past dynasties came here, and there was an endless stream of people who climbed the building to watch, and it was hard to count those who wrote poems and inscribed them. In the Tang Dynasty, Bai Juyi lived in Xuancheng with his eldest brother Bai Youwen and wrote the poem "Lie Yuanxiu in the Window" to express his impression of going up this building. The poem was known by Xuan She's observation envoy at that time, and he was greatly appreciated. He recommended him to go to Beijing to take the exam, and was awarded the fourth jinshi, thus entering the official career. Until his later years, he also wrote the poem "Ji Ti Jun Zhai": "...There is no new poem on the wall, and the virtual teaching is far away from the window. If you are happy with the movement of the chapters in Xuancheng, fly away to congratulate Jingting Mountain." The last year of Tang Xiantong (874 In 2009), Dugulin, the imperial censor and the governor of Xuanzhou, rebuilt the North Building. Because of its high and dangerous terrain, the cliffs are stacked like ridges, so it was titled "Die Zhanglou", and it was recorded as a record. During the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, the prefectural government was rebuilt at the right time, and it was renamed "Gaozhailou", which was also inscribed. In the 40th year of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty (1701), the prefect Xu Ting-style renovated it, and said: "The name of Diezhang is the fate of the earth, and the name of Xie Gong is passed down by people. The north tower is known to the ancients and modern, and people and places are in it. That's it." Then the title was titled: "Gubei Tower". In the early Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, a member of the prefecture Lu, rebuilt it. The renovated North Building is divided into upper and lower floors, with the upper circle and the lower part, all wood structure, covered with glazed tiles, and cornices on four sides. The title of the upper floor is called "Die Zhanglou", surrounded by wooden railings, and the lower floor is titled "Xie Yulou", with screen doors in all directions. Around the base of the building, there are inscriptions of poems and inscriptions of past dynasties and inscriptions of building buildings. During the Anti-Japanese War (1937), the building was bombed by Japanese planes. It has been rebuilt as before, and the old style is restored. Xieyu Tower, Yueyang Tower, Yellow Crane Tower and Tengwang Tower are also known as the four famous buildings in the south of the Yangtze River.
