It is located on the southern coast of the Mediterranean Sea, on the shore of the Algiers Bay. It is jointly constructed by the Third Engineering Bureau of China Construction and China Construction Algeria Company. The total contract amount is US$1.5 billion. It is the largest project currently undertaken by China Construction in Africa. The project covers an area of more than 400,000 square meters. After completion, it will become the third largest mosque in the world. The 265-meter-high minaret will become the tallest mosque minaret in the world after completion. At the same time, this super-large building complex also includes a prayer hall covering an area of 20,000 square meters, a library with a rich collection of books, a cultural center, a Quran Institute, a parking lot, as well as 12 buildings such as the management center, dining area and several gardens.”

The Grand Post Office is still in operation as a post office and issues various first-day covers and commemorative stamps from time to time. There is a bookstore opposite that sells postcards, which can be bought and mailed at the post office.”
