This was my first time renting a car for a road trip in Japan. The staff at the rental company were very friendly, and the pickup process was quick and easy. No credit card guarantee was required, making it perfect for those without a credit card. My three-day rental with full insurance cost only HK$1,500. Although it's a small car, the overall performance was excellent and easy to handle. It was stable and stable even at 140 km/h on the highway, with no sense of shake. It's perfect for two or three people. However, due to its small size, there's not much room for extra luggage. Also, the car's low profile might take some getting used to for those used to taller cars. Unfortunately, on my first day, I noticed a scratch on the right side of the car's underbody when I returned to the hotel parking lot. I'm not sure if it was hit while street parking or what happened. I quickly took photos and videos and shared them with the rental company via WhatsApp. They explained that since we had full insurance, there was nothing to worry about. However, I would need to pay a 120,000 yen advance upon return, which I could later refund through trip.com. The next day after returning to Hong Kong (August 30th), the rental company sent me the necessary documents to apply for a refund via WhatsApp. The staff was also very efficient. You can choose your own return location; I chose one near Narita Airport. After completing the return procedures, the staff thoughtfully escorted us to the airport. Of course, I gave him all my unused coins as a tip! If you're traveling to Tokyo and prefer exploring the suburbs, renting a car is a must. However, be aware that highway tolls are quite expensive. Besides the 220 yen per day ETC (which allows you to enter highways without stopping at toll booths), you'll also have to pay 15,000 yen for all toll booth fees over the three-day period upon return. (The staff will print out the fees for each toll booth for your records.) Now I just need to apply for a refund through trip.com. Hopefully, everything goes smoothly! This rental company is Chinese-owned, and all the staff speak Mandarin, making communication easy. This rental company will definitely be my first choice for my next road trip to Japan!
