"We stayed in the main building this time, so this is just my impression of the main building. Our room number was 4XX, but it was on the floor just above the lobby, so it was quiet and a satisfactory room for us seniors. We read other people's reviews and were aware that the building was old before making our reservation. As it is an old building, the floors creaked in places, but it was kept very clean and we were able to stay there with peace of mind. The large public bath is not very large, as stated on the inn's website, but the bathtub and washing area were clean. The hot spring water comes out of the tap in the room bath. It seems that the hot water stored in the bathtub decreases over time. (^^; There is a washing area, but it was a little disappointing that there was no shower. As the name "no-ten-buro" (field bath) suggests, the open-air bath is an outdoor bath, with natural bamboo groves nearby, and to enter you have to put on your shoes and cross a walkway. (If it's raining, you cross the walkway with an umbrella, and it seems that they lend out umbrellas to enter the bath.) There is no washing area, so it is recommended to bathe in your room or after washing in the large public bath. Food was a buffet both in the evening and in the morning. Seats are assigned in advance, so there is no need to worry about not being able to find a seat. I had heard that dinner starts from 6pm, so I went there just before, but there were people already eating there (this may depend on the reservation plan). There was sashimi and appetizers on the table. The selection was decent and the food was delicious, but unfortunately the tempura and simmered dishes were all soggy. At breakfast, you are told to sit in the same seat as last night. (It's a good idea to remember where you sat for dinner (^^;) The food was mainly Japanese, so it was a little disappointing that there was no bread. At both dinner and breakfast, paper cups were provided so that you could take the coffee back to your room, which we were happy to take out. We went as a couple, but there was a kids' room, and in the lobby there was a sweets section with a sign saying "Dagashi-ya" (Candy Store), so we felt that it was a child-friendly inn. The staff were also very polite. At check-in, we were told that "We will come into your room at dinner time and lay out the futon," but they came to lay out the futon before the dinner buffet time. (Lucky for those who don't like staff coming into their rooms when they're out, unlucky for those who don't like staff coming in when they're in their rooms.)"

"Fukiya is an old ryokan on the hill in Yugawara village. Water of Natural hot spring seems to be active and healing. Ryokan itself old but really good maintained. The place is extremely clean! Every tiny detail is cared of, you feel like it is titanic part of work to provide this level of cleanness. The food. This was the best food among visited ryokans. It is really the highest level. The chef-cook should be given Michelin or whatever, it is just unbelievable how everything was presented and cooked. All the food is the highest quality, absolutely delicious. I consider myself as demanding client, they exceeded my expectations regarding the food. The were a few things for improvement, though… I did not like the fact that there is no restaurant zone and all the food is brought to your room. They start preparing around 7 am, coming into your room and loudly announcing “good morning!” and the appearance of staff was never quiet ). Being after long night flight, this was a challenge. They close baths from 9:30 am to 2 pm, which limits your ability to use Onsen , even though it is the best time for guests to enjoy hot spring. The lady, who prepared everything in the room was nice but way too pushing and loud and a bit chaotic, we felt like we were being kicked out of the hotel (the lady even was running pushing us and our luggage out of the hotel 🤪), that they forgot to put our bags in taxi. Finally, we arrived to the train station without luggage and were upset that our visit finished that way"

"We arrived by public bus, so it was relatively convenient, but the hotel's shuttle service wasn't very well-organized. Dinner was a bit different from what we expected, leaning more towards Western tastes, while breakfast was a rich buffet. The only minor flaw was that the stopper for the private hot spring drain tended to get stuck. The river sound was quite loud, possibly due to it being flood season. However, once we closed the balcony door at night, it was perfectly quiet. Thank you for the honeymoon gift, we were very happy about it."

My only minor complaint is that early check-in isn't possible, and there's no luggage storage on-site. If you need to store your bags, you can use the paid lockers at the nearby station."

"Took my elderly parents here for a one night stay. We took the shuttle bus from the train station for 200 yen a person, but if I were to go again, I would opt for a taxi instead as the busses are small and can be hard to bring multiple pieces of luggage on. I thought both dinner and breakfast would be at the buffet, but the check-in receptionist said dinner was a traditional Japanese kaiseki meal. As my parents can be picky eaters with foods they are unfamiliar with, I asked to switch to the buffet so they can eat whatever they want. The room was large and had an a private open-air onsen bathtub. The shower next to the bath is a bit finicky as the water is on a timer. You have to press the lever every few seconds to get the shower running again. That day was chilly, so showering was a bit cold, but the onsen more than made up for that. We did not visit the public bath or the public onsen, so cannot comment on those. Yukatas are provided inside the closet in your room. Some guests chose to wear them everywhere inside the hotel, some did not. It is down to your personal preference. The dinner buffet was quite nice, with lots of Japanese and Western food and drink options, including alcohol. While we were out at dinner, the staff came into our room and laid out a futon on the floor in additional to the 2 twin sized beds. The breakfast buffet had somewhat fewer options, but it was still good."

"Hotels in Hakone are generally quite expensive during peak season. This one is located in the northern Sengokuhara neighborhood. It's owned by a middle-aged couple. They have very few rooms, but they all have terraces and en-suite bathrooms. The bathroom is in the public bath downstairs. Since I don't have high expectations for Japanese-style service, I was generally fine with it. It's an old-style Japanese-style house, within walking distance of a 7-Eleven. Dinner options were limited, but we had a Korean barbecue restaurant, which was surprisingly popular."

"Hakone Hotel is a historic piece of Hakone and has maintained its elegance over the decades. It has spacious rooms with comfortable beds and if lucky, great views of the lake and Mt. Fuji. The onsen are a nice touch, and included for guests with minimal charge, 150 yen per da, and seems to be compulsory. The breakfast is simple, with an order main dish, and buffet for the additional options. The French toast is amazing. The staff is extremely helpful and speaks English relatively well. The hotel offers free welcome drinks and free soft drinks, coffee, milk tea, cocoa, and more throughout the day. The location is perfect for getting on the lake cruise, which takes you to the shrine in 5 minutes, the cable car in 25 minutes, which goes onward to the steam vents. There are limited restaurants nearby the hotel, but there's an excellent Indian place right next door, a Japanese food truck that makes great grilled chicken yakotori, wagyu beef, and a Mediterranean that i didn't have an opportunity to try. This is an excellent hotel and somewhere I'd stay again. It does take about 40 minutes by bus from the train station, but worth the effort."

"1. Let me talk about the transportation to the hotel first. I didn't do much strategy before, so I didn't know how to get there. Thanks to the Ctrip girl for patiently answering many of my questions. To sum up, there are a few points: 1) Take the hotel shuttle bus: There is one bus every day, at 14:00, and it will pick you up from Odawara subway station. You can see the bus parking lot when you get out of the station, about ten meters away. The straight-line distance is actually not far, but it takes about an hour to drive around the mountain. I think this is the most convenient way to go. You can directly ask Ctrip to help you book a shuttle bus. 2) You can take the bus. But because I don't know where to check the timetable, I gave up the bus. Everyone says that the bus station is 700 meters from the hotel, but it doesn't feel that close. It takes about 10-15 minutes to walk. You have to walk uphill and pass through some residential villas. 2. The hotel room is very large, and there is a small loft downstairs. The decoration can see the old money style. There will be a strong mountain breeze at night, but the hotel windows are very soundproof. It's just that our chandelier lit a faint light in the middle of the night, which was a bit irritating. It was fine the next day. 3. The hot springs are open-air and indoor. They are quite standard. It feels that there are more people in the morning than in the evening. 4. The breakfast restaurant and dinner restaurant are the same. It is right after entering the hotel lobby. The view is very good. The breakfast variety is quite rich. Adults are RMB 200. Children are half price. Compared with the breakfast variety, this price is a bit expensive. Because there is no on-site service for breakfast. 5. There is a bus to Odawara Station at 11 o'clock. We went directly to the outlet with our luggage. Because the road to the bus station is not smooth, we asked the hotel's minivan to take us to the bus station. It took about five minutes. 6. It takes 10 minutes to walk from the hotel to the bus station. You can take a bus to Taoyuandai Station, and then you can buy a cable car ticket to Owakudani there. You can also buy a pirate ship ticket for Lake Ashi. They are all at that station, which is a hub station. You can also take a bus directly to the outlet. It takes about half an hour, and then it is very convenient to change to the outlet shuttle bus. I put the bus schedule below for your reference. There is a Lawson supermarket at the hotel station. There is also a park for watching Miscanthus, which is worth a visit. All in all, I highly recommend this hotel. Very convenient and quiet."
