A good overview of the city and not too far away from the high street but the buses don’t run regularly there and frequently cancelled which ruined my trip plan.

There is only one bed next to the toilet downstairs, which is a bit smelly and noisy, but nothing else. The environment outside is very good and the air is fresh.

The twin room is really nice, it was renovated from a manor house in the last century. Very clean, very quiet and very safe. It’s nothing like the youth hostel you imagined.

Living with friends is a very good choice, and the location is good. You can see the night view of Bath from the accommodation, and the accommodation provides food and beverages. It is still very suitable for going out with friends.

Room was fine, location is good. Locusts descend at 0730 or 0800 and clean out breakfast, taking lots extra to make sandwiches for lunch. At last two visits to Bath, there's been no decent food left by 0830 and no extra bought in to make up a fresh serving, definitely not unlimited breakfast by any measure. Buying in what you think is just enough in order to reduce food wastage doesn't work, you have to have extra in the fridge, we're not all early risers and it's an absolute melee with nowhere to sit, first thing, so that's not the answer. Similar problem at Coalport. I won't buy YHA breakfasts any more, even bog standard Wetherspoons is preferable (and cheaper).
Response from Property: Thank you for taking the time to rate and review us. We are sorry that you experienced this however we do cook to order and keep breakfasts topped up as much as we can to avoid waste. We are more than happy to cook when requested when nearing the end of service, please do ask. We also take a note of arrival time for breakfast so can keep an eye on the late risers. We also offer brunch baps as an alternative - these are cooked to order also. We hope that we can welcome you back to stay with us again to change your perspective. Kind Regards Simone Lucas- Hostel Manager

The hostel has an excellent location down hill into Bath. The bunk beds are very comfortable and the shower facilities good. Breakfast is excellent and well presented. Facilities to make own meals also available. New International friendships also made.

Can't recommend this YHA enough. 20 minutes walk from the centre of Bath although it's a steep hill to walk back. However there are regular buses to and from the centre which are virtually at the end of the YHA driveway. The parking is limited on Bathwick Hill but it's free and we were lucky enough to find a spot on arrival. The staff go above and beyond to help where they can. Simone was brilliant with local information and Matthew was exceedingly helpful in sorting out some food for my gluten free diet. The self catering facilities are good as are the bar and lounge areas. We only stayed in the main building so I can't comment on the new annexe but it does look very smart in lovely surroundings.

I loved my one night stay. I had a private room with ensuite for £35 - wherelse in Bath would that happen?! (I was upgraded from a 2 bed private ensuite to a 6 bed which was also nice). The view from my room was fabulous - the whole of Bath and surrounding hills. I didn't miss TV or wifi (not available in rooms) - I sat and looked at the view all night. The main, original building is amazing - the YHA have some incredible places. Breakfast was fine (although the water for the tea was tepid by 8 o'clock but the coffee was okay). I was in the new part and was concerned if I'd be warm enough (it was due to be -6 that night), but if anything I was too hot! In fact I was a bit concerned that the YHA must be wasting loads of money on heating - I guess some visitors moan if they feel a teeny bit cold? Only moan was the amount of litter on the drive up to the building - entirely the fault of guests - awful!! Top tip - make sure that you walk down into the city via the path alongside the fields and canal - breathtaking, especially with frost over everything.

Nice building. It is a steep climb from the main road if you are walking. There is no car park facilities. Plenty of off street parking both on Bathwick Hill Road and North Road. Seemed quite safe. If you are on the second floor in the new building and have dust allergy.. run.. Self catering kitchen do not have any hot plates. But there is microwaves and work top ovens. Reception staff was very knowledgeable and obliging. We did enjoy our stay.

Breakfast in tiny proportions and not well cooked. Also found a hair in the beans which was NOT ACCEPTABLE. Toilet did not flush and had a leaky shower head. Paint peeling off the walls onto the top bunk. Overall people were nice and the social areas were a nice touch to play games.
Response from Property: Thank you so much for your ratings and review. I have passed your comments opnto our Kitchen Manager for investigation. we are so sorry that you experienced this. I have added all the jobs you mentioned onto our Maintenance list for review when next in Bath. We We hope we are able to welcome you back to stay with us again. Yet another great budget stay at YHA, its a lovely characterful building, with amazing views, the ladies dorm is spacious with en- suite shower and 2 toilets and a huge balcony window. Great modern self catering kitchen but the icing on the cake is the great staff Simone and her team are friendly helpful and go out of their way to make it a fantastic experience. Definitely one of my favourite hostels see you soon.

Amazing view over Bath from this YHA. There’s a comfortable large lounge area as well as a big kitchen dining area where you can use microwaves to cook (there are no hobs.) very friendly, lots to do so returning in summer 😊
