Matt NasirPondok Santi Estate is truly an exceptional place to stay.
We stayed at Pondok Santi Estate in Gili Trawangan for four nights, and from the very first moment, everything exceeded our expectations. The level of service is outstanding — a true 5 out of 5 — and the experience feels much more like a five-star luxury resort rather than a hotel.
Every detail is beautifully designed and perfectly maintained. The rooms are spacious, elegant, and extremely comfortable. Housekeeping is impeccable, and the staff is attentive without ever being intrusive.
The restaurant experience deserves special praise. The food quality, presentation, and service were consistently excellent. Breakfasts were a highlight of our stay — fresh, delicious, and served in a peaceful, beautiful setting that made every morning feel special.
What truly sets this resort apart is the warmth and professionalism of the team. From the room staff to the restaurant team, everyone made us feel genuinely welcome and well cared for throughout our stay.
Personally, Gili Trawangan itself is not a destination that impressed me greatly. However, Pondok Santi Estate completely transformed our experience and made the island a place I would happily return to again — specifically because of this resort.
We feel very fortunate to have stayed here and are deeply grateful for such a memorable and high-quality experience. Pondok Santi Estate is a true sanctuary of comfort, elegance, and exceptional hospitality, and we would not hesitate to return.

A Magical 50th Birthday Celebration at The Oberoi, Lombok
I recently celebrated my 50th birthday at The Oberoi Beach Resort, Lombok from 8th to 10th September, and I can confidently say it was one of the most memorable holidays of my life.
From the moment we arrived, the front desk team made us feel truly special, welcoming us with warmth and professionalism. The room service and housekeeping were impeccable—every request was met with a smile and executed flawlessly.
What truly elevated the experience was the extraordinary hospitality. The staff went above and beyond to make the celebration unforgettable. I was surprised with beautiful room decorations, and during dinner, they arranged heartfelt birthday greetings, a live band, and even fireworks to mark the occasion. Every detail was handled with care and precision, making me feel incredibly valued and celebrated.
The spa treatments were sublime, offering the perfect balance of relaxation and indulgence. Every team member—from the spa to the restaurant—was genuinely committed to making our stay exceptional.
Thank you to the entire Oberoi Lombok team for creating such a magical experience. You turned a milestone birthday into a cherished memory that I will treasure forever.

Guest UserThe hotel's location is fantastic, right on the beachfront with private sun loungers. The staff are welcoming, and there's a tap outside each villa to rinse off sand after the beach. We were greeted wonderfully and checked in immediately as our room was ready. They promptly brought welcome drinks and cold towels.
Regarding the downsides: there are no disposable toothbrushes or body lotion. The water isn't in disposable bottles but in a carafe that you have to refill yourself in the lobby. The room is very dark with insufficient lighting. The windows aren't airtight, leading to high street noise, especially when the call to prayer starts at night. The refrigerator is also very noisy. The air conditioner is positioned to blow directly onto the bed, so we had to sleep with our heads at the foot of the bed. The AC is also loud. There were strange worm-like caterpillars crawling in the bathroom and room. There are no power outlets near the beds. Breakfast is à la carte, with an additional buffet offering vegetables, fruits, cheese, cold cuts, and pastries. The breakfast food isn't very good; poached eggs were overcooked. A plus is that you can order several dishes from the menu. The latte coffee was very bitter, and I had to add milk myself. I believe the price for this hotel is too high. The only plus is the location – it's conveniently situated a 10-minute walk from the port and has a beach spot where you can see turtles.

Anonymous UserI have to give this a great review; too bad there aren't ten stars, otherwise I'd definitely give it a perfect score!
After a four-day, three-night liveaboard trip from Komodo to Lombok, we stayed at the Novotel Lombok Resort & Villas in Kuta for four days.
The hotel is beautiful, stylish, and full of charming little details. For instance, the pebble paths are adorned with mosaics of turtles and Komodo dragons, the frog-shaped lights along the pathways are adorable, and the triangular entrance archways to the villas feel mysterious (check out the photos!).
We stayed in a Sasak-style villa (without a pool).
The room was spacious, and the bed was especially comfortable – lying in it felt like being wrapped in a cloud, so secure and cozy. I slept incredibly well these past few days, completely recovering from the 'pain' of the liveaboard trip 😂. It's perfect for a relaxing, 'lie flat' vacation.
During check-in, there was a staff member who spoke some simple Chinese, which made communication easy. However, throughout our four-day stay, we didn't encounter any other Chinese guests. It was mostly Indonesian locals, Westerners, and we did see two Koreans. In fact, when we went out to places like the Bat Cave and the cliffs, we rarely saw any Chinese tourists either.
The hotel reception offers motorbike rentals. They'll call one for you, and it usually arrives in about 20 minutes. A small scooter costs 150k per day.
The restaurant food was decent – you know how it is, pretty much what you'd expect. Breakfast wasn't particularly special. For à la carte meals at other times, the Kung Pao Chicken and Sichuan Beef we tried were pretty good. They're definitely not the standard authentic Chinese preparation, but the taste was enjoyable. For two people, two dishes plus drinks cost roughly 180 RMB per meal (Qris Alipay is accepted).
One evening, they forgot our order, and we waited for 40 minutes. The chef personally came to apologize and offered us free ice cream. Overall, the service attitude was excellent, and the staff were all very enthusiastic.
If you register as a Novotel member, the hotel's Wi-Fi is super fast. The in-house spa is a little bit on the pricier side, but the massage techniques are good, and the best part is you don't have to go out looking for one.
The hotel has its own beach, and next to it is a small hill perfect for watching both beautiful sunrises and sunsets (see photos). On our last day, while watching the sunset from the hill, a little black dog ran up and sat beside me, accompanying me as I watched the sunset [crying emoji]. Anyone understand that feeling? The world instantly felt quiet and peaceful.
It's about a 15-minute motorbike ride from the hotel to Kuta town, which is very convenient. Shopping and dining spots there also accept Qris Alipay (though some convenience stores don't). We ate at a Chinese restaurant called 'Jiangnan'; their Spicy Chicken was delicious, and the cold wood ear mushroom salad was perfectly seasoned (though the peanuts were raw, which made me laugh).
You can also order takeaways via Grab, and riders accept Qris payment upon delivery.

jetlaggerOur several night stay was delightful.. We really appreciated everything about this resort. The location was desirable for us in Sengigi and is also set back from the busy road providing a quiet atmosphere. The service level was brilliant with every interaction with staff professional and positive. Special shoutout to Chef Jiandi who kindly assisted to navigate through the extensive menu. Food quality and ambiance is exceptional matched with a perfect service level, despite prices punching a tad higher than similar Lombok properties. Room is gorgeously appointed, spacious, quiet, impeccably clean and both of our rooms had excellent views towards the beach. The bedtime stories and cookies are a thoughtful touch and treat. Pool and surrounds are beautiful and ample lounges provide a nice level of comfort. Beach bar is wonderful for sunset drinks and beyond with those gorgeous Lombok sunsets ever so memorable.

Anonymous UserThis hotel is magnificent in every way! The rooms are equipped with everything you could need, including a kettle, a safe, toothbrush and paste sets, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and even body lotion. The bathroom humidity is low, so swimsuits dried completely overnight. The huge bed was incredibly comfortable with soft pillows – we slept like babies! The staff are very attentive and always smiling, excellent service! There are two swimming pools on the property; we particularly liked the second, longer one, further from reception. You can also rent bicycles for the whole day! The breakfasts are delicious. Best of all, turtles swim right in front of the hotel – we absolutely loved watching them! It was hard to leave this paradise!!!

The hotel was excellent...rooms were comfortable, clean and spacious and accommodating for our group of 8. The pool area was great with sun lounges. Location is very central to the port, local restaurants and hiring/booking options. We didn't eat at the restaurant but drinks service was great. Would definitely stay again.

Location is great (near the night market and the harbour) however the room was not quite as it was advertised.
When I booked it, the details clearly said that there is hot water and TV for my booked room type, but when I got there, the shower only has cold (brackish) water, and no TV
Room cleanliness is also a bit of an issue in that while the room is ok to stay in, cleanliness could be further improved, especially around the bathroom area (stains on the wall and leftover sand on the floor should be cleaned regularly). Twice I also found dead cockroaches in my room
The amenities are alright in the sense that they offer massages and wellness therapy at an affordable price, and can also help you with renting a bike/e-scooter, but that’s all there is. There is a small cafe/bar, but it looks quite spartan, somewhat untidy, and (to me) not very inviting to stop by for food/drink
The staff are friendly but could be more professional, for example by waking up early (they were still sleeping at 8 AM) and being standby at the reception desk in case of problems, and not lounging around the pool while smoking
I think for the price they charge there should be better alternatives around the island, so I’d think twice before returning here

Mixed feelings
The room I initially booked (paid extra for AC and hot water) was just dirty and I could not control the AC bc remote wasn’t working so it was always on
I could clearly see that no one had cleaned it (see first three pictures) and tbh bathroom felt unsafe with electric cables next to shower
I asked to change and they tried to give to charge me extra for another room - I told them either I have what I paid for (AC and clean bedsheets) either it’s ok they pay me back and I leave
The staff said I’d need to talk to the manager and when I said ok bring me the manager they never got them and offered me third room without paying extra (feels dishonest that they didn’t show me this one first)
Bedsheets were okayish (so many weird stains, see pictures) but this one had no hot water - and they clearly said that I got downgraded. They wanted me to pay extra for the upgrade but do you think they paid me back the difference for the downgrade? Of course not (feels dishonest to charge extra for things you paid for initially but no pay back when you provide less than was paid for)
I don’t know how much a hotel like this needs a pool (which was really nice by the way) when they’re so close to the beach. Maybe they should put the pool budget into clean rooms and hot water lol
