Beach Hotels in Funchal

We really enjoyed our stay at Baia Azul. This hotel has everything! Gorgeous views from the lounge area, a lovely bar with entertainment at night, excellent service, lovely comfortable rooms, and a very nice pool area. We cannot fault it! The breakfast was also lovely. Would definitely stay here again!

The staff is friendly, the room is a good size and everything was clean. The room has a mini fridge, slippers and robes. They also provide pool towels. There is a cleaning service everyday and they change all the towels, including the ones for the pool. The bed was not the best as it was quite hard and had a spring mattress. We enjoyed the indoor pool, the jacuzzi and sauna. We haven't tried the outdoor pool as we only spent time there in the evenings. The breakfast was good. I'd come back as it was a nice experience overall.

Since it was all-inclusive, I was able to eat and drink at some restaurant. The recommended restaurant is an Italian cafe called VELA DI CANALE. The pizza of heat 々 is also all-you-can-eat, and if the timing is right, the original will be baked with your favorite toppings. The pool was also wide 々 and I was able to spend a relaxing time. I want to stay again.

I chose a hotel with an ocean view at an affordable price. As a result, there was a hotel with very spacious rooms, panoramic window, coffee/tea, a comfortable bathroom with bid, a large balcony. The only moments: a separate bed for the couple and a weak shower. Noise of night waves on the amateur:) We had to close the door on the balcony, though it was quite noisy. The service is very friendly.  Breakfast is delicious and fresh. There are plenty of baking, drinks, cuts and hot.  I didn't expect there would be a free transfer to the center and back. Absolute plus this hotel because it is not in step-by-step access from the center.  The views, the purity near the hotel, its beach is amazing.  Then we lived in the private sector and a lot of what looked at the island, but the first two nights in Orca Praia remained in our heart 💘 With respect,  Elena from Russia

A experiência no Pestana Ocean Bay foi bastante agradável, os colaboradores foram sempre muito simpáticos e atenciosos, ajudaram sempre que foi necessário, têm sem dúvida uma equipa preocupada com o hóspede, atenta, empática, senti-me muito bem recebida… num questionário que respondi a meio da estadia, mencionei que nos buffets poderia haver uvas (isto porque a minha filha gosta muito, e as uvas eram uma fruta que ainda não tinha surgido), fiz essa observação pensando que nem ia ser lida, no entanto, no dia seguinte ao chegar ao quarto tínhamos um belo prato de uvas, nesse momento, sentimo-nos acarinhadas como se estivéssemos em casa, foi um gesto de cuidado que nos deixou sensibilizadas, estão de parabéns por isso e por, efetivamente, lerem os questionários, que muitas vezes achamos que ninguém vai ler e importarem-se com o que lá se escreve. Têm uma boa organização, apresentação e logística de tudo o que envolve uma estadia: refeições, animação ao fim do dia, saídas/passeios, etc. Continuação de um trabalho de excelência ☺️ obrigada.

This hotel's advantage lies in its excellent location in Funchal's hotel district, opposite a large shopping mall with a large supermarket. The hotel has its own free parking, swimming pool, and tennis court. The room was only so-so, the facilities were rather old, but the sea view somewhat made up for it. Perhaps because it's a popular tourist destination, the smiles of the receptionists seemed a bit forced. Although the room had a kitchen, there were no condiments. However, one long-haired lady on the evening shift was very kind and patiently recommended restaurants, writing down the names of nearby eateries for me. The Madeira Islands are indeed a popular tourist destination, so accommodation is generally not cheap. This hotel has the advantage of a good location, situated in the hotel area of ​​Funchal, with a large shopping mall right across the street, and there is also a large supermarket inside. The hotel has its own free parking lot, swimming pool, and tennis court. The rooms are just average, with relatively outdated facilities. The sea view does somewhat make up for the shortcomings. Perhaps because it is a popular tourist destination, the smiling faces of the receptionists always seemed a bit fake. The rooms have a kitchen but no spices. However, there was one long-haired lady working the night shift who was very nice. When recommending restaurants to me, she was very patient and wrote down the names of nearby restaurants for me one by one.

My second stay at Alto Lido this year and it was even better than the first. Staff is professional and polite. I was kindly surprised with a room upgrade which was beautiful and comfortable. Lovely modern hotel. I will definitely be back again.

The indoor pool was closed for renovations and there was construction in the hallway, resulting in a lot of noise from 8 am. The breakfast buffet was well-stocked. The cleaning staff was very friendly. Climbing the 130 steps to reach the hotel at the end of the day was tiring.

The hotel's location is great, very convenient with a bus stop right outside. There are plenty of restaurants and supermarkets nearby, and it's just a few minutes' walk to the beach. They have an underground paid parking lot. The breakfast was decent, and the room, though not large, was sufficient and had its own balcony. The only downside is that the facilities are a bit old.

We booked a triple room 3 beds last min with late bird price. However they gave us double room 2 beds. It's on the 1st floor just next to tennis court which is quite noisy. It's 31 degree F, no air conditioner. Only 1 tiny window can be opened for fresh air but its facing a foot path with many guests access to the indoor pool, gym...etc. Not enough privacy. Location is ok as many small supermarkets, restaurants and bus stops near by within walking distance. Hotel facilities are good for the price.
