The staff's attention is discriminatory, for several nights 1 they did not put towels, another night they left us without shampoo and they added water to the hand soap, additionally they checked what was served for breakfast, they checked every day very carefully.
We left very sad, we couldn't wait to run away from this hotel, we were very bored.

Room is very basic and in excellent location for what I needed being close to family
Our room had glass in the floor on arrival and the toilet seat was severely cracked which we didn’t notice until children had been put to bed and we was offered another room but swapping room wasn’t an option as the other room was on the top floor and children where already asleep , the glass was quite large chunks which had been missed as was beside the beside cabinet and I was able to pick them up myself
cleanliness was ok but could be cleaner carpets wasn’t vacuumed very well , bathroom was clean but as mentioned toilet was damaged and quite dangerous and if sat on would cause damage to skin
Bed was clean but possibly the worst bed I’ve ever slept in , lumpy horrendous mattress
Safety is a bit of a concern as the main door to hotel is open all night and not always manned so anyone can enter and wander around which caused me some concern
Over all the hotel is cheap and basic and was a clean bed for a night wouldn’t recommend for a nice stay away but suitable for a overnight cheap bed

The hotel is small and looks like a few rooms, but it is very refined and the breakfast is good.
A warm welcome and traditional hospitality awaits guests at the Plough and Harrow Hotel in Edgbaston, Birmingham.
The red brick Victorian architecture of the original building together with the large garden, lawns and plentiful car parking serves to
set the Plough Harrow Hotel apart from other Birmingham hotels.
Built in 1704, originally as a wayside inn, the hotel has over the centuries become steeped in history and is recalled by many
as being one of the most popular places to stay in Birmingham during the 1980s early 1990s and was the Egon Ronay hotel of the year in 1984.
The restaurant was renowned as the place to dine at lunch and dinner and the hotel was regularly frequented by celebrities, politicians and personalities of the time.
Unfortunately from the mid 1990s the hotel suffered from a lack of investment from a number of corporate owners and it changed ownership several times.
In 2010 the hotel returned to private ownership for the first time in 50 odd years and TTM Partnership LLP, the new owners, commenced a gradual plan of phased investment refurbishment
which is expected to take up to 10 years to complete and will ultimately cover all areas of the property.
The ultimate aim is to return the hotel its historic position as a good quality, independent boutique hotel in Birmingham and being the hotel of choice for corporate
leisure travelers, wedding receptions, local functions events as well as an everyday place to enjoy lunch, dinner or afternoon teas.
When the existing public areas bedrooms are refurbished consideration will be given to expand the hotel and
possibly include a spa beauty facility although this is likely to be around 2020 onwards.

Location of the hotel was excellent. Parking is £13 for the night on site. Room was clean. The aircon did not work and it’s was so got my partner almost fainted. I called up the manager who came along with the housekeeping. The housekeeping tried to say oh it’s motion sensored and you got to wait 30 minutes or so to come on. I’m standing there looking at her like say what again?! I explained to her nobody has time to wait around for the air con to come on for that long like tia 1994! Even the manager stood there who agreed it was hot. All our food had gone cold. And eventually 30 mins later they moved us to the room next door and from the word go it was so much cooler and the air con was working.. wait for it.. without anybody being there for the “motion a/c” to work. They didn’t do anything about the food that went cold, the inconvenience. Manager did offer to get us drinks but we don’t drink so pointless. He offered to reimburse £13 for parking again not worth it. Overall it was a poor experience but slightly made up for it when we moved room. This is not really the marriot experience and we made the mistake not to use the usual aloft hotel east side who are always 5/5!

Absolutely loved this hotel, fantastic and helpful staff on reception. Clean and friendly. Very professional.
Cant say the same about my experience with Trim. Will not be booking anything else with Trim again. Feel robbed and I don't need any Trim points.
If it was not for the hotel I would not have had the facilities I had paid for.

Quite expensive for a country side hotel but the room was clean.
The buffet breakfast takes time to replenish the food and we cleared up the table so we can sit because the staff were so busy clearing up other tables. There’s not enough Coffee cups, forks, knives on the service table.

GGuest UserWe'd booked a room with two double beds. I checked in first while I was waiting for my husband to finish his boys night out on Broad Street.
The security were really tight on the door which I appreciated because I was by myself on arrival.
Whilst checking in, I told the receptionist the my husband would be joining me after 2pm and may be a little out of sorts. They took both our details and I went to sleep.
Roll on 4pm, I get a call from my husband saying that they wouldn't let him in, so I called reception and this issue was solved straight away.
The room was perfect, corridors quiet, clean room, all the amenities, wardrobe, fridge and kettle.
Breakfast was great! I'm a porridge, fruit and toast person although my husband tucked into a fry up.
They do have a make to order omelette station too .
I will definitely be booking here again because all our friends live in Brum and the staff, room and location of the hotel is perfect if you're on foot.
KKudzyI booked the hotel on Trip.com. The earliest check in time was 3pm. Check in was easy. I asked for a room on a certain floor and not too close to the elevator and got exactly what I wanted. Staff was friendly and professional. The room was nice & clean, with all necessary amenities included.
The location is excellent. Its a short walk (under 9 mins) to Birmingham New Street station also known as Grand Central. Hotel is also very close to Bullring Mall. Shops, restaurants & banks are all within easy access to the hotel.
I did not eat any meals in the hotel. Ate out at different restaurants. The hotel amenities are good and well stocked. King size room amenities: kettle, tea coffee milk, safe, mini fridge, ironing board, iron, hair dryer and toiletries.
The shower does not have a glass door, instead it had a shower curtain which was torn on the top. The windows are not double glazed. It rained heavy. The sound of strong winds & rain hitting on to the windows was too loud. Double glazed windows would have solved that issue. The fire alarm went off on Friday morning 3 or 4 times in a row. I tried calling reception a few times but the line was engaged. The hotel should have informed all guests about the fire alarm but they failed to do so. I had to ask one of the cleaners about the alarm. She told me it was nothing to worry about.
In general, I would gladly recommend this hotel to others due to location, cleanliness and comfort.
LlauliVery clean and modern. I had a room without a window, which was fine. Bed was a little firm for my comfort, but lots of pillows, soft fluffy towels & nice bathroom products plus hairdryer & full length mirrors were provided. Bathroom was a wet room with a bit of an awkward shower if you don't want to wet your hair & bathroom gets totally wet. Located in the heart of the jewellery quarter.
GGuest Userthe room is good enough for 3 persons, though the sofa beds are actually smaller than the photos. well equipped with 2 head cooking hobs, small fridge, dish washer, microwave with grill function and sufficient utensils, and also instant coffee were provided.
the water pressure of the shower is super good and water is hot enough but the toilet is a bit small, you have to hide just next to the toilet bowl then you have enough space to open the door.
The down side is the service of the reception & housekeeping team. After we got the room cards, we couldn't access to the room and needed to go down to ask the receptionist to fix the cards and come back to open the room. After entered the room, we found that the water in toilet sink didn't go, we asked the housekeeping staff who was just working at the next room to have a look at it but who said we needed to go to the receptionist (as there's no inter-room telephone, we have to go down again). Then the receptionist arranged another room which was downstairs for us.
We booked for 2 nights, when we came back to the hotel the next evening, the room cards didn't work, again. The receptionist claimed that it might be due to the cards being put together with the mobile phone that might damage the cards. However, we were sure the cards weren't put together with the phones!
It would be perfect if a small box of tissue could be provided.
SSfrixelReally unsatisfied with the cleanliness of the room, there was a huge amount of dust anywhere that I was sneezing continuously.
Also, the most disgusting thing were the bedsheets, stained with yellow spots! I asked for a new set of bedsheets and the reception gave them to me and I had to put them on, because there was no one of the cleaning team to do it.
Very very very unsatisfied.
GGuest UserHotel is not in a bad location for trips out…
But the hotel needs a lot of improvements! The breakfast buffet you are left waiting for them to replenish food items , you have to keep asking staff where are the cups for tea as none replaced there was queues because of the location of the toaster, be careful if you ask for water to be replaced in room as I was charged but then got a refund after complaining..the executive room was good but I know the standard rooms are not great. The staff were good but there needs better organisation. The pool area dated and no set time they seem to pick and choose open close times. We had quite a few issues not all mentioned here which we told reception about we was not happy and noticed other customers complaining.. we would not stay again and certainly not 4 star 3 at most .. can’t comment on spa treatments as did not use but looking at the spa I’m sure there are better ones around. Golf course 9 hole in good condition but outside hotel area need tidying up bit scruffy.
GGuest UserThe location is great. Right in front of the new street station.
The staff is great. The room is simple but clean and comfortable. The bathroom had a bathtub.
Unfortunately it was not really sound proof. I could hear door closing and some thumps from above.
I hope my talk or watching TV did not disturb other guests.
MMike LutzA very pleasant stay in a clean room with decent amenities. The bed was comfy and I didn’t hear noise from other guests, it was good to have blackout blinds too. The location was perfect for my conference and walking distance to the city centre (about 15 mins). The breakfast is decent and there are snacks and drinks available as well.
GGuest UserThe beds were ultra comfortable and I had the best night of sleep I’ve had in weeks. Room was small but unless you’re planning on spending a lot of time in the room, it was perfect. Bathroom was great, very clean and had a rain shower head which I loved. They didn’t really provide any toiletries other than hand wash and body wash, I had to buy my own shampoo and conditioner. There’s also no fridge/microwave, but there was tea and coffee with a kettle provided. I would definitely recommend and I would stay again.
TTaz MalikI like the normal central heating compared with some hotels that have electric heaters- because you can dry your clothes. Bonus that there is a wall plug -in socket by the bedside unit( which has drawers too. That way, you can charge your phone nearby when in bed. Mine was a single room. Loved the new bathroom with a dual shower( rainfall and flexible shower ( I hate fixed shower heads ). Plus point was the rubber/ plastic mat to use as you come out of the shower. It's such a reasonable rate at this hotel. Plus, it's great for single travellers - then you are not paying for a double room. Biscuits are also a plus and the huge TV screen with free Internet that's not limited
