The Best Western Carlton Hotel is a fabulous place to stay in Blackpool, with a fantastic seafront location overlooking the beautiful Fylde coast. Getting to the beach is easy – just walk out the door and cross the road. As the hotel is situated on the slightly less hectic north promenade, you’re minutes from the center of Blackpool and its many attractions and can still enjoy peace and quiet.
Built at the turn of the century, the Best Western Carlton Hotel boasts panoramic scenery across the Irish Sea, as well as a front row view along 12 miles of sandy beaches and the famous Golden Mile. A leisurely stroll will take you to the town center and Winter Gardens, with the best that Blackpool has to offer within easy reach. The iconic Blackpool Tower is impossible to miss, and just a mile away and a little further to the south are the famous amusements of the Pleasure Beach. You’ll know you’re there when you hear the screams of thrill-seekers riding The Big One – the UK’s tallest and fastest rollercoaster. In between, you’ll find Seaworld®, Madame Tussaud’s and more seaside entertainment than you could possibly wish for.
On a practical level, the Best Western Carlton Hotel is just half a mile from Blackpool North station and is ideally located as a conference venue in Blackpool. If you do like to be beside the seaside, this is the hotel for you.

Great location on seafront, easy parking £5 until midday next day. Good buffet breakfast with vegetarian options in a dining room with sea view. Rooms are noisy, very thin walls and you can hear every word of people walking past in the corridor so take earplugs. Would stay again though, the staff are all very good and the place is nice and clean.

This majestic building is steeped in history which really adds to the enjoyment of a stay there. We had 3 nights B&B with friends and also dined in on one evening. Food was excellent but the real standouts were the friendly, helpful staff. Not only did they help with all our holiday stay requirements they shared the story and history of the hotel - which is almost 150 years old. For an old hotel the owners have done a great job in maintaining the building and it was a warm, comfortable setting for an autumn break. Highly recommended.

We have just returned from an overnight stay. We had booked the suite ( coniston). Upon arrival we were quickly dealt with by reception. The hotel is running on a skeleton staff but all were helpful. Our suite wasnt ready but the happily stored our luggage so we could go into Blackpool and would call when it was ready which they did. The hotel itself is in a 10 min walk of the north pier and tower. From the outside it looks a little tired. The main door doesnt work and decor is dated. The suite however was very spacious. It stretched across 5 windows all tower facing with a great view. The only down side to this was the windows needed a good clean. The suite was modern and had 2 bathrooms a dining area a living area and bedroom. It was clean and tidy however there were noticable stains on the carpet and furniture which they had cleaned in the past. But overall was very pleasant. The bath was lovely nice and deep. We only paid 179 for the night when peak charge can be around 300 so i felt at this price it was worth it. The only thing that would of made it better and i would expect if paying top end would be a robe slippers and possible complimentary mini bar. The bed was very comfortable and the addition of a fan was welcomed. However no hairdryer! We didnt eat here as we ate at the beach house (highly recommended and it didnt dissapoint! )At this price point we would return again and plan to in the future.

Always excellent as I’ve stayed here before the staff are always very friendly and welcoming. Very helpful and tend to every need. The bar has a lovely atmosphere the drinks are reasonably priced too. The girl that works behind the bar is one of the best barmaids I’ve ever met she has a way with the customers which brings them back time and time again. Would definitely recommend and stay again without any doubt.
Step away from the hubbub of everyday life for a while at Barton Manor Hotel Spa, BW Signature Collection. We offer a peaceful setting for a romantic break, family celebration or business pow-wow.
Our accommodation is stylish and contemporary while staying true to the traditional charm and character of the original manor house.
As well as our great location just off the M6, we boast superb facilities, including a swimming pool, sauna and fitness center. There are also conference and wedding facilities.
Were 5 miles from the center of Preston and a 20-minute drive from Blackpool and its wealth of attractions including the Pleasure Beach and Tower. Elsewhere, nature lovers will be in for a treat at Brockholes (9 miles) with its abundance of wildlife and unique floating visitor village.
Evenings can be spent devouring quality cuisine in our bistro restaurant or sitting out with a drink in our beautiful landscaped gardens. If youre looking for group entertainment, simply pop 2 miles up the road to The Flower Bowl, home to a cinema, bowling alley, crazy golf and curling rink.
We have 51 bedrooms – 43 in the main hotel and a further eight in the self-contained Barton Lodge annexe. Theres a choice of standard doubles, family rooms and deluxe rooms that come with a Nespresso coffee machine, Sky TV and luxury toiletries. When we arrived the barrier was down. We had to do that awkward thing of move the car over as far as you can and then stretch to reach the button to contact staff. Unfortunately the staff member who answered the gate intercom was a little hard to understand and she cut us off rather abruptly with the gate still remaining down. We pressed again and the gate allowed access.
We checked in and I advised that I had already paid online via paypal. The staff advised that any payment was not an actual payment rather a hold - I would still need to pay again. If you use paypal you will know it takes several days to show on your account so I could neither prove nor disprove their claims.
We got to our room and were pleased to be in an annexe as there was a wedding going on. Nice room size etc kettle, coffee machine, mugs, tea and biscuits. I checked in the bathroom for glasses and there were none available - I would assume that a hotel charging over £100 per night would at least supply plastic cups or proper glasses to drink water from. There was plenty of storage available and a decent hairdryer.
The shower was nice - however the glass door was not long enough to prevent significant amounts of water hitting the floor - the bath mat was sodden. The shower tray and grout work as well as an area near the radiator had mould/blackening to it. There was also a random hole in the ceiling - possibly an old leak?
The food was great although it took a while to arrive. I did ask for mild peppercorn sauce and no mushrooms - my food arrived with mushrooms and no peppercorn sauce. We left the restaurant believing that the meal would be added to the room - a member of staff followed us out advised that many people may have sat at the table and they needed a room number (this was given when we arrived at the restaurant) and could we pay now?!; perhaps they need a better booking/checking system in place?
We then went through to the bar there were several tables which had been left with glasses on them. They were only removed when we sat at one of these tables, the table remained unwiped.
The two staff on didn't come over to see if we wanted more drinks and didn't interact with other people who were hovering also intending to purchase drinks. I eventually took my chair and sat in front of the bar waiting for the staff to return from a patrol; neither asked if they could help so I shouted over. I believe this is indicative more of a lack of training in customer service than rudeness.
Children from the wedding were becoming a nuisance by this point and were pretty much unchallenged by staff. They were running in and out, up and down stairs taking milk from the fridges and leaving plastic rings on the floor. They made enough noise to be heard on at least the first floor as the fire doors were help open by magnets.
In our room we hoped for peace and quiet only to be left disappointed by music echoing over from the wedding - this finished just before midnight. The bed was comfortable and we slept well.
The gym was lovely and quiet at 8am although the sauna hadn't quite heated up when we headed in there around 8.40ish.
Breakfast was mostly tasty - the black pudding lacked any flavour - the scrambled eggs and hash browns were great. The tea was the wrong colour and tasted like very cheap teabags. There were bits of chips on the floor from the food service the night before.

GGordonWe were dissappointed in the car parking situation. It wasn't exactly made clear that you need to drive into where it was marked exit and press for them to lift the barrier. Then unfortunately there was no room so had to call into reception to find out where we could park it was a bit stressful and could have been avoided. The hotel itself is very secure as you need to press for access to the entrance. Once up to reception on the first floor we were welcomed and allocated a room. The room was very tired with marked and scratched walls and ceiling. The bathroom had all the ususl facilities but a great big crack was in the tiles on the floor about two and half feet long. The shower head was dirty and the bottom of the main door was peeling away. The bed was two single mattresses put together which were obviously well used and meant there was a bump in between which wasnt very comfy. The bar was expensive for drinks and the staff seemed to multitask serving and cleaning tables etc. Some of the same staff were at breakfast and it just felt a bit overall short staffed. The breakfast itself was adequate but basic. We did notify reception on checking out of our findings as we are not usually ones to complain but the issues do make a difference and some just general maintenance.
We arrived at the hotel and checked in the room was good although too warm we had to get the radiators turned off. The meals well breakfast was great. The evening meals well the choice wasn’t very good I mean hard boiled potatoes every night no chips. Too mutch similar for the choices . The best menu was on the Friday we left. I couldn’t understand why there was two Caberet lounges . The entertainment was of good standard especially the Wednesday night as my freind kev Wright was playing. Some of the staff weren’t very friendly my wife felt some of the reception staff attitude was wrong. One complaint I had was the teapots definitely need new ones the lids on a couple weren’t shut right I did tell the staff they weren’t safe I nearly burned myself. We may come back.
AAnonymous UserGood value for money, you can stay for one night at this price. The location is also good. There is a supermarket nearby. If you want to go out, you can buy the necessary items in a few minutes, but the ventilation is not very good.
GGuest UserWe visited this place with friends, 5 of us, and got a great service for 5 people in 2 different rooms. We shared one toilet. We paid 118 quids for service which is quite nice for 5 people staying for a night. As we were visiting the Blackpool pleasure beach and carrying backpacks would have been difficult so we requested the hotel staff to keep our luggage while we checked out and were gone out for the entire day, and thankfully they agreed. All in all I loved the overall service, highly commendable.
GGuest UserWe stayed here for a cheap night away with our 8 year old, most hotels were more expensive and didnt offer much as in were very small no bar or entertainment. The bar was really big and had a sea view we had a few drinks before we went out for tea. There was a dancefloor and stage. Plenty of space for my son to play around whilst we had a drink. Tram stop right outside to the town. Room was very spacious yeh it wasn't the newest but with the price i wasn't expecting it to be. However it was clean and comfy. We had a Seaview room but had scaffolding outside our window so the window was quite dusty but that couldn't be helped. We didnt eat there however we walked past the breakfast buffet and everything looked lovely and i did look at the hygiene rating and its a 5 so. Check in was super fast and parking for the night was only £3. The hotel had a singer on and the kids were happy playing on the dancefloor so family friendly. There is also a pool which we didn't get chance to use but a great facility for the price. I would defo visit again
GGuest UserOverall this hotel was nice great location, also on the the beach, good transport and easy to walk to town centre, good facilities, only flaw was it was our first visit to the hotel and I booked a family of 5 room with a sea view costing 78 pounds and on arrival was given a family of 4 room with no sea view only costing 65 pounds which I know as it stated the price on the receipt I was given by reception on arrival
GGuest UserClean and tidy room, quad with private bathroom, 2 double beds. Blinds on windows instead of curtains and not blackout blinds, which left gaps in so people could see into room. Tv and tea/coffee in room. No breakfast available as no chef currently employed. £50 cash deposit must be given on check-in which was returned with no problem after room inspection. Well stocked bar and karaoke with bingo was played on Friday and Saturday night. Parking available at £10 a night but looked a bit risky out the back so didn’t park here. Reception not always manned and can be a long wait for someone to come after pressing bell. No hot water on 2nd morning so it looks like the early risers take all the hot water. For the price for a family of 4 over easter it wasn’t as bad as some reviews.
