If you're coming to Daisetsuzan Asahidake and your budget allows for a slight splurge, I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel. It's truly excellent (and I'm used to staying at international chains like Marriott and IHG). I genuinely recommend it. Also, it's best to stay for two nights; a bluebird day is a rare treat.
On 'Xiaohongshu' (Little Red Book), this hotel is often compared to the one next door, but purely in terms of the rooms, this one wins hands down. They're very new and spacious.
The hotel's dinner is also quite good, seriously. I ate so much salmon and sweet shrimp sashimi at the buffet that I didn't even want any more the next day. It's a sashimi free-for-all!
We only came for hiking, but if you're here for skiing, it's even more highly recommended, as it's the closest hotel to the Visitor Center and the ropeway station.

For our last night in Hokkaido, we drove all the way from Kushiro to this small hotel in Biei. The hotel was tiny, and although it had a second floor, there was no elevator. The staff were incredibly enthusiastic and even helped us carry our luggage, which made us feel a bit embarrassed. Our room came with a private open-air onsen, so it was quite spacious, but the futon mattress was a little hard. It made me miss my smart electric mattress back home! The food here was also great; both breakfast and dinner were typical Japanese cuisine, perfectly to my liking. Definitely recommended!

This hotel is on the mountain, private, quiet, and has a rich history. The room facilities are good. I arrived after Christmas at the end of December. The snow was thick and soft. I personally think it is better than the snow in Xuexiang. The breakfast and dinner are Japanese style, and the taste is good, suitable for Chinese tastes. The hot spring water is natural, with hot pools and warm water pools, which are very comfortable. I will stay here again next time.

This was a wonderful hostel stay. The room was great, the shared spaces were inviting, friendly and social, and the hostel had a well communicated and communal feel. We met wonderful people and enjoyed it the most in our stay in Hokkaido. Close to hiking and ropeway, good food, and best service. Highly recommend for foreign families traveling to this amazing area.

This is a little gem in Biei. It gave me cute little cozy wooden hut in the snow kind of vibe. Iooking out from the dining area and our room, the view was fantastic and breathtaking. Few things to highlight
1. Affordable cost.
2. Quite and peaceful space where you can sink in and enjoy at your own pace
3. Beautiful snowy farm view
4. Clean and spacious room
5. Polite and thoughtful staffs who can communicate in Mandarin is a plus point
6. Complimentary breakfast made by the chef was yummy. Thanks to the chef who also specially prepared a vegan set meal for my mother
7. Coffee beans, coffee grinder and tools for drip coffee making is prepared in the room for guests
8. Spacious parking space
However, for old people who are weak and unfit to carry heavy luggages up and down the stairs might suffer a little as the hotel doesn't have a lift access to the bedrooms on the second floor..
The hotel bed is not as comfortable as other hotels in Japan.
Overall, I love my stay in this hotel and would be glad to revisit this place.

I'm not sure if it was because I booked at the last minute, but the room wasn't very warm; the heating seemed insufficient. There was parking, but not many spaces. The room didn't have a private bathroom, but there was a public hot spring pool. ♨️ The room was large and overall very comfortable. Luckily, we encountered a front desk staff member who could communicate in Chinese, although not fluently, but being able to communicate was great! 👍👍 There aren't many restaurants nearby, so I decided to book the hotel breakfast, which I thought was quite good.

From the moment the shuttle picked us up from the Tabist Hotel in Asahikawa to our check-in, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We accidentally left our thermos on the shuttle, and they quickly retrieved it for us. The onsen (hot spring bath) itself had a distinct sulfur smell, which I absolutely loved! The bingo game at 8 PM (500 yen per card) really got the atmosphere going. The only downside was dinner; when we arrived around 6:45 PM, almost all the food was gone. A large tour group arrived shortly after, and even then, the food wasn't replenished. They just brought out fried chicken wings and fried fish, and even drinks weren't restocked in time. We ended up just eating ice cream, which made us feel colder and colder. It felt like they were afraid of people actually eating, which I really disliked. I would have been more impressed with a kaiseki meal in that situation.
However, what I really need to complain about is the 'Sounkyo Ice Waterfall Festival.' It's unacceptable that just because we arrived on the last day, there was absolutely nothing left. All the attractions were gone, leaving only sponsor flags. How many fireworks were there? If the organizers charge an entry fee, shouldn't there be corresponding insurance? There wasn't any. I know that ice sculptures can be slippery, but simply throwing down a few plastic anti-slip mats isn't a proper solution. I had to keep reminding my elderly companions, 'Watch your step!' Unfortunately, one of our elders still fell. When we asked the event staff for assistance, we were told that since we were independent travelers, only our own insurance would cover it. The most they could do was have our hotel staff call an ambulance. Is that right? The rest of our trip was completely ruined because of this... completely ruined.

Anonymous UserThe facilities are generally old. I think people might have different opinions on the facilities and cleanliness. I was a bit surprised that the room key and locker key were actual physical keys. The hot spring facilities are old, but they give a natural hot spring feel, so it's not bad. Breakfast is simple but offers a good variety of Japanese dishes. The location is great as it's right next to major tourist attractions. However, it's quite secluded with nothing around, and the way there isn't easy to find.

The staff at both the front desk and the dining area were very friendly and helpful. Both breakfast and dinner were buffet-style, with more choices than I expected, especially the seafood selection. I don't drink alcohol, but they offered four types of sake for free. There was a Japanese sweets corner, and I had soy sauce soft serve ice cream topped with kinako (roasted soybean flour) and lots of warabi mochi (bracken-starch dumplings), which was absolutely delicious. While hotel prices are rising, the room rate was reasonable, even though it was the Saturday, the first day of the Ice Waterfall Festival. The only thing I regret is that the yukata I stayed in was old and the fabric was starting to thin.
