The hotel is very beautiful, very clean, the sea scenery is very good, the transportation is also very convenient, and near to the sea. Open your eyes and see the sunrise. The boss is also very warm, there is water and milk in the refrigerator, very satisfied!! I love here and want to stay next time. The lack of lift to move luggage is a little inconvenient, but the spacious rooms and warm decor offset all of this

Great hotel but not the best in the town as it is small, about outdated and the view isn't the best in the world.
The shower was very poor and weak but the bathroom looked nice and was up to date but not the biggest.
The hotel had a different feel about it and the staff member was great.

GGuest UserThe room is big, and the bathroom is also big. It is located by the sea, just a little way down the road in front of the door, and the sea is very beautiful. The hotel is said to have a history of 120 years, and the facilities are well maintained. The elevator is very distinctive, and I waited for 10 minutes to go downstairs when I checked out in the morning. It is recommended to go early if you are in a hurry.
GGuest UserI took my son & grandson here for a treat thay loved it as thay both used the gym an found it all relaxing with the chilled out alone in reception the staff all 💯 % an go that extra mile for you will be returning in feb & March for my mothers 83 birthday it’s a fabulous place to come an stay alls clean breakfast is good too lots to choose from an extra special looking out at the see an hearing it at nite time while you driff off to sleep 😴 highly recommended an will past the word on to my family an friends 🥂
GGuest UserA century-old store means that the facilities are a bit old, especially the floors, but the location of the hotel is very good, opposite the coast, less than 5 minutes' walk from the famous seaside hotel, and 10 minutes' walk from Eastbourne Secondary School. It's particularly close. Every minute of the English breakfast is freshly made. Well, it's very good. I'm late every time. It’s a pity that I forget to take photos every time😅😅
ZZherHotel stay was comfortable and excellent for a short stay. Hotel looks old and has an ancient lift, but overall is well maintained and the room is clean and great. Toilet may be a bit cramp and the shower head is leaking causing water to splash out from the bathtub and flood the toilet floor. Location is good as it faces directly to the sea and is 15 mins walk away from the train station. However, there was no bottled water provided and the kettle looks filthy with a white layer coated on it, but the staff was friendly and provided hot water upon request at the reception. Beside that, the overall stay was pleasant and the room is clean.
AAlvinDCFantastic stay! Highly recommend.
My partner and I stayed for a night. Arrived rather late and the staff were still up waiting for us. Acknowledged us by name and showed us up to our sea-facing room. Clean, well furnished, minimalist modern and spacious feel. Woke up to a fantastic unblocked sea view in our large window.
Breakfast was available to all in the kitchen/ pantry from 7.30-10 with a more than decadent spread of your staples, hot fresh brewed tea and coffee.
Minor drawback was the slightly longer walking distance from the city (about 15mins), no toothbrush available, and had I not read up online ahead of time, I’d never be able to find the place as there is (as many others have also mentioned) no clear sign that says “The Halcyon”.
So to anyone to follow in our steps, this is honestly a beautiful place to stay. Excellent value for money away from the noise of the town centre, wonderful hospitable staff for a lovely guest experience, delightful & scrumptious brekkie, cosy and clean modernistic rooms & gorgeous views to wake up to. No hassle checking in or out.
Just be mindful to look out for the big words that says “HOTEL” and you’re very likely at the right spot. (Checkout photos 1&2) Walk in without fear and be greeted by warm smiles and a fantastic experience all around.
AAnonymous UserCame over a little queer while away rang emergency services for help, that was last week ha ha. Apart from that just look after yourself always knowing your on holiday. Grin and bear it. Only here once I'm told. Couldn't fault the place, I tried but couldn't. Ps better than NHS food any day of the Milena. Keep up the good work. Pps if you don't agree don't read then.
GGuest UserEasy to find and good location however after a hectic day the greeting from the receptionist was less than welcoming. He was on the phone to someone and continued with his conversation without acknowledgement or comment. Asked for my ID to which I replied I didn't know I need to provide one especially as paid directly with travel agent and is not necessary. He told me no I'd you not stay I will cancel booking. I said all I'm saying is it would be nice to know beforehand and should be in the confirmation email. It got heated. Finally got my keys. No lift and on top floor. No offer of assistance. Room adequate and comfortable for price paid. Receptionist came and apologised which was appreciated.
All. In all a comfortable stay but unlikely to return
GGuest UserAmazing location right by the beach so some rooms would be overlooking the promenade and coast.
The rooms are tired and decoration needs to be updated although the reception areas look good. The beds and pillows were VERY comfy! Better than some travelodge, so a good night sleep. So if you can look past the poor paint, the £37 a night twin room will be a bargain. I would return at this price, but not more expensive.
Its not the usual high quality or standard that I expected from Best Western chain. More a budget option.
£7 is for a continental breakfast so this was declined. Tea and coffee in room was good.
Late arrival but checking in was swift and very helpful. Free but limited overnight parking outside but you have to get a ticket (the hotel can do this for you for £2.25) from 8am so if you want a lie in, you need to book and pay when you check in.
AAnnaEverything is great, the attitude of the staff is excellent, the room was clean. I would like to see some broken parts fixed and the dust wiped off from above. The location of the hotel is super!
EEdysiaqHotel was cheap. Not that bad as reviews on the other website but also not great. Location is amazing and sea view stunning.
In the room - bit tired looking carpets, doors for toilet was broken as well as chest of drawers. There was TV but mostly not working.
Bed was comfortable. We did not use towels as they have been stinks a bit.
Shame the advert says hotel have parking but it haven't.
Anyway for that money and nice weather outside and not that long spend inside it was not bad.
