We enjoyed a very pleasant 2 night at Fowey Hall recently with our two young children. The Hotel is clearly set up to cater for families and the model seems to work well. We did read some reviews from disgruntled couples before we went who felt there were too many children and dogs…..but the hotel goes to great lengths to make it clear that this is a family focused hotel! On balance, the staff is very engaging and friendly, although at times appears to be slightly overwhelmed. For example, at check in, we were told that we would be informed when our room was ready (check in is 1500). At 1520 I re-approached reception to remind them we were still waiting for our room. Additionally at peak breakfast time (0900), the place can seem slightly behind the curve, with uncleared tables and messy floors. Finally, the baby monitors are fantastic and a great idea, however, when our first one didn’t work there was no offer from reception to come to our room and replace it, instead we were told we would have to collect the replacement ourselves. None of these were big issues but are just symptoms of an enthusiastic Team which is either understaffed or lacks the experience to deliver a polished product. Whilst our accommodation was well appointed, various aspects were clearly tired. This included the bed (which effectively woke you up every time you moved due to a defective frame) and the carpet which was stained and also hadn’t been hoovered prior to our arrival. On the plus side (and there are many examples), we would certainly return to Fowey Hall. The Den for children is fantastic, as is story time at 1700 each day with milk and cookies - and toasted marshmallows at 1645 during the weekends. The quality of the food at breakfast was also fantastic. Thank you for a great stay!

This is our second time coming back to the hotel and it was even better this time around. The hotel is that perfect mix of elegant but comfortable, with a child friendly vibe without feeling like a child focused place. We have three little kids and they had a great time and loved the games rooms and the pool and even the playground upfront. The food has also gotten better since the last time we were there which was great because it was part of our stay. That is very little I would change about the experience that it was a great three days away.

An excellent night stop. On arrival we were greeted by a very pleasant polite and helpful young man who showed us to our room. The room was outstanding, all amenities were clean and tidy and a very comfortable bed. Only one negative point was the temperature of the room being way too high to be comfortable, the fan did not respond to inputs on the control panel. Reverted to having one of the French doors open to allow cool air in. The ground floor is a maze of very well appointed rooms with sofas, chairs and tables around open log fires, on a wet and windy Cornish night it was a treat to see. Lovely little bar area again with seating and tables. All rooms had various board games available. All in all a lovely way to celebrate my wife’s birthday

Generally a very good experience. Comfortable large room with fridge, coffee maker, kettle, ironing board and iron. Staff very helpful and friendly. We had a lovely view over estuary and sea. We have the following observation that we feel might improve the experience. We think the rooms would benefit from a hotel information folder. We had a ‘false alarm’ fire alarm at 04.30 on one evening which was signalled by a raucous sound on the room phone. With no explanation from staff at check in, this was very startling and unexpected. We guessed it was the fire alarm when looking in the corridor the fire doors had closed. However this was only confirmed by a trip to reception and confirmation from the night staff. No one rang the room to apologise. An information folder which we could have read might have prepared us for this experience. Also additional information on hotel history, operation of the TV, connecting to the internet etc could be added as well.

We got married at the Fowey hall hotel in October with exclusive use of the hotel and it was a truly magical experience. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout the day and our 3 night stay. A big shout out to Michaela, the Front of House Manager, and Ellie the Wedding and Events Manager who made sure the day went perfectly. We would also like to mention Christian who served us for our wedding breakfast taster a few months ago as well during our special day. We had a beautiful three course wedding breakfast - the food was of great quality and in huge portions. The rest of the food throughout of our stay was also to a very high standard and we would definitely recommend an evening meal at the hotel. For each night of our stay the rooms were clean and very modern. On the night before the wedding my bridesmaids and I stayed in the Violet and Louisa rooms, which were perfect for the occasion as they have an interconnecting door and plenty of space for us to great ready in. My husband stayed in the Badger room in the courtyard with his best man which was themed to a wind in the willows aesthetic. For our wedding night and the night after we stayed in the Lantic Bay suite, which had beautiful views out across to Polruan and the sea. The room was incredible and we look forward to staying there again one day. We also visited the spa a couple of times over our stay and this, like the rest of the hotel, was clean and well furnished, and very relaxing. In summary, the Fowey Hall Hotel was the perfect setting for our big day and we are very glad to have chosen it as our wedding venue. We would thoroughly recommend it to any couples looking for a place to tie the knot!

Perfect family hotel! We visit Cornwall every year but this was our first time staying in Fowey Hall over half-term with our seven year old and five month old. The hotel was very accommodating, everything we needed for baby was in the room and also a yoto player to keep our oldest occupied. There was lots of activities, my son particularly enjoyed swimming in the outdoor pool, story time with cookies and milk, and visiting the rabbits. Fowey is beautiful, it’s a short walk from the hotel to the beach and there’s a route which is pram accessible. We recommend walking the Hall Walk with Cornish pasties! Great hotel for a bit of rest and recuperation if you are post-partum. Will definitely be returning!

After extensive research we decided to book this hotel as a special treat. We had booked a 3 night stay in a Deluxe Seaview Room. On arrival we were allocated a room above the Spa in a block separate to the hotel with a glimpse of sn Estuary view. Unfortunately, the room had heating issues with hot air entering the room and the air conditioning was not working msking an unbearable nights sleep. After talking to reception it was frustrating to discover this was a known problem in those rooms and it took until late afternoon to sort a new room which turned out to have the view we expected. Communication following our visit and recompense for the inconvenience was inadequate which is a shame as we feel although the hotel and location are lovely the customer service experience did not match expectations.

Just returned from an afternoon tea celebrating our anniversary. Never been so disappointed sandwiches had little to no filling hadn't got a clue what the cakes were as we were not told but were tasteless. All this was served on a very small table had to take water glasses off to make room. I have enjoyed afternoon teas all over the country and this has got to be the worst then to add insult was charged an additional surcharge which hadn't been mentioned. I am a local and would not recommend this to anyone no wonder tourists are staying away totally shocking.
